FTI Motivation Day 2012: Study Program Introduction through Interactive Sharing

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id -- Faculty of Industrial Engineering (Fakultas Teknologi Industri, FTI) held its annual event, FTI Motivation Day on Saturday (08/12/12). The event was to introduce FTI's four study programs held in East Hall ITB together with three student associations in FTI: Engineering Physics Student Association (Himpunan Mahasiswa Fisika Teknik, HMFT), Industrial Engineering Student Association (Keluarga Mahasiswa Teknik Industri, MTI), and Chemical Engineering Student Association (Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Kimia, Himatek).
Rizky Harry Sungguh (Engineering Physics 2011), the chairman of FTI Motivation Day 2012, said that the event was held to give the first year (Tahun Pertama Bersama, TPB) students a motivation to pursue their dreams in their selected study programs. "Besides, through this event, we also want to introduce each study program in FTI in detail to the TPB students," said Sungguh.

With a theme of 'Improving Your Personal Leadership", FTI Motivation Day 2012 was opened creative performance of each TPB class. Afterwards, the Dean of FTI, Prof. Hermawan Kresno Dipojono, Ph.D officially opened the event continued with a speech about ethics by Vice Dean in Academics of FTI, Prof. Dr. Bermawi P. Iskandar. Some of the alumni of the study program were present to share their experience while studying in the study program and their subsequent jobs. They were also present to discuss things with the participants.

Human Resource Director of PT. General Electric Indonesia, Raechanah Syafei and Global Business Service Director of Procter & Gamble Home Products Indonesia, Christian Soetanto were invited as the speakers. In their speech, Raechanah and Christian emphasize the importance of soft skills in the professional work. A balance of hard skills and soft skills are required in the work. "High productivity-oriented professional world will be fulfilled if the graduates have soft skills-based competence," explained Christian.

Besides speech, there were also sports and games to increase FTI's TPB students' batch 2012 teamwork. "I hope with the FTI Motivation Day 2012, the freshmen are able to know in detail the competences and works they'll meet in their selected study program," closed Sungguh.
