BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The Ganesha Student Innovation Center (GSIC) serves as a platform for professional development, student projects, and innovation of ITB students under the ITB Student Family Cabinet (KM). One of the latest activities held by GSIC ITB is a Discussion Forum titled “Towards 2045” at Labtek IX ITB Ganesha, on Saturday (November 16, 2024).
GSIC ITB is a rebranding of the Coordinating Ministry for Work and Innovation of the KM ITB Cabinet. The rebranding aims to implement collective intelligence with a stronger emphasis on professionalism, innovation, and student projects. This transformation was deemed necessary due to a decline in student participation in research and innovation. By expanding its mission, GSIC hopes to reignite students' interest in creating, innovating, and collaborating across disciplines.
According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GSIC, Muhammad Defryana Ramadhan (Urban and Regional Planning, 2021), GSIC runs four core programs designed to support students in research, collaboration, and professional growth. First, the Student Research Program. This program provides students with research support, mentorship, and funding to enhance the quality of their projects. In collaboration with the ITB Directorate of Student Affairs, it aims to prepare students for the 2025 Student Creativity Program (PKM).
“Research is a crucial step toward becoming a global university. We support students by providing guidance, funding, resources, and others, ensuring their research is more well-structured and impactful than when they have to research on their own without guidance from GSIC," he said.
The second program is Ganesha Multidisciplinary Collaboration. This program encourages interdisciplinary collaboration through project-based learning, enabling students to engage with industries, startups, government agencies, and other real-world challenges.
The third program, the Innovation Lab, serves as an incubator for work, professionalism, and innovation needs from various institutions in KM ITB.
The fourth program, the Ganesha Student Innovation Summit, provides a platform to showcase ITB’s ecosystem of professional innovation and creative works to a broader audience, both nationally and internationally.
Through these initiatives, GSIC ITB aims to position ITB students at the forefront of technological innovation in Indonesia, equipping them with the necessary resources and networks to prepare students to tackle future challenges, particularly in a global context.
