BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — Three students from the Undergraduate Program in Information Systems and Technology Institut Teknologi Bandung (IST ITB) batch 2022 attained 3rd place in the Business Case Competition UI Innovation War 2023, which was held by the Executive Student Body Universitas Indonesia (ESB UI).

The three students, Syakira Fildza Nazhifan, Nicolaas Heru Dreandachrista, and David Dewanto were joined together in the “SyncDive” Team. Presenting the theme of “Igniting Innovation: Advancing Business Ideas through Collaborative and Visionary Strategies”, the competition encouraged undergraduate students to learn, improve their critical thinking, and work in a team. They were upfronted with a case to be solved with the right problem approach in the form of a report and presentation. The competition was divided into three stages: essay submission, paper writing, and pitch deck.

The SyncDive Team faced various challenges in resolving the case revolving around a company named Titipku, an online shopping platform. The company planned to introduce a new program, Titip Kirim, but was confronted with various operational issues such as the low wages of drivers, small transaction numbers, and the lack of awareness among market sellers about their services.

The team then proceeded to design a comprehensive and integrated solution, titled ‘B.O.S: Boosting Jatipers Productivity, Optimizing Merchants Awareness, and Sail Titip Kirim Program through #TitipAjaLangsungKirim. The series of solutions will hopefully address the problem in detail.

Throughout the contest preparation, the team conducted research, divided roles, and practiced pitching. The final presentation itself was held in the Ministry of Investments/Indonesian Investments Coordinating Board (IICB) Building, West Jakarta, Saturday (30/09/2023). “This is the first time we entered the building, plus having the opportunity to pitch on-site,” added Syakira.

The SyncDive Team admitted that they registered for the competition two days before its closing. During the final stage, they were occupied with quizzes and practicums on campus. Moreover, they submitted their final presentation just a minute before the appointed deadline. They also wrote the script and practiced pitching one day before the competition was held. However, with all the time strains, the team were able to achieve third place in the UI Innovation War 2023, owing to their proposed solution and analysis.
