ITB’s Formula Car “Mushika One” Joins JSAE

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - After going through a series of designs and manufacturing process, the team from Mechanical Engineering study program ITB successfully created Mushika One. ITB's first formula car, which was launched on Monday (27/08/12) will be join Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (FSAE) event 2012 at Ogasayama Sport Park, Shizuka World Cup Stadium, Japan on Monday through Friday (3-7/09/12).

According to Tri Aghna Satriya (Mechanical Engineering 2008), Mushika One follows two mandatory categories, namely static and dynamic categories. Static categories that include technical assessments such as regulatory compliance, braking test, tilt test, and others. While the category of dynamic performance of the car cover on the circuit such as acceleration, turning ability, durability, and fuel efficiency.

Team's supervisor Indra Nurhadi revealed that to produce a light, strong, secure, and agile race car is not something easy. Even so, Satriya optimistic that his team will get achievement in the arena of formula cars followed 76 teams from different countries.

Mushika One team aims on the best rookie achievement in this competition. At the moment of the launch, which was attended by West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan and ITB Rector Prof. Akhmaloka, Ph.D, Mushika One went for a series of test drive. Heryawan had a chance to test drive this vehicle, revealed that the Provincial Government (Pemprov) strongly supports the creation of West Java Mushika One.

Meanwhile, Prof. Akhmaloka, Ph.D., welcomed the assistance given by West Java provincial government. ITB Rector added that the institution also helps the students in terms of academic team. "ITB has always wanted the best for our students, both academically and in expertise. For that, ITB always support any potential possessed by students," said Prof. Akhmaloka, Ph.D.

The process of design which spent nine months successfully blends a powerful engine specification. Engine-powered 600 CC CBR 600RR Supersport programmed ECU Haltech Platinum Sport 1000. From the dimensions they have Mushika wheel base 1625 mm, 1200 mm track width front and rear 1150 mm. Formula car has a mass of 220 kg which is also equipped with a liquid cooling system.
