BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) and the Directorate General of Taxes of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia solidified their partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at the ITB Rectorate Building on Thursday (04/01/2024). The agreement was formalized by ITB Rector, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., and Dra. Erna Sulistyowati, M.T., Head of the Regional Office of Directorate General of Taxes for West Java I.

The primary objective of this collaboration is to instill tax awareness and responsibility among taxpayers while fostering cooperation between the Directorate General of Taxes and educational institutions to meet tax revenue targets. A pivotal aspect of this initiative involves establishing a tax center at ITB.

Prof. Reini underscored the importance of tax consciousness, emphasizing the shared social responsibility of both institutions in enhancing the nation's fiscal reputation. "We envision the ITB community as exemplars of tax awareness, equipped with sufficient knowledge to fulfill their obligations," she remarked.

The tax center, situated within the ITB Ganesha campus, will serve as a focal point for tax awareness campaigns targeting both the academic community and the public. It will offer various programs, including tax consultations, academic research on tax regulations, and tax training sessions.

Dra. Erna Sulistyowati lauded the collaboration, noting ITB's potential as a technical institution to effectively manage the tax center. She expressed optimism regarding the center's impact, highlighting its role in enhancing tax literacy and compliance.

In addition to the tax center, the collaboration entails internship programs for ITB students within the Directorate General of Taxes' working units. Furthermore, the impending launch of the Core Tax Administration System (CTAS) in July 2024 promises to streamline tax administration processes through integrated, technology-driven solutions.

Through this collaborative effort, stakeholders aim to cultivate a heightened awareness of tax obligations, recognizing their pivotal role in advancing national progress and sovereignty.
