The Rector of ITB stated that the Studium Generale served as a strategic forum to discuss the role of higher education in supporting the development of national regions, particularly the Rebana Area, which is currently being developed by the Ministry of Public Works.
Prof. Tatacipta also emphasized that the presence of ITB Cirebon Campus holds strategic significance for the development of the Rebana Area in West Java. According to him, higher education institutions function not only as centers of education, but also as drivers of science, technology, and innovation development aligned with regional needs.

“The Rebana Area has great potential as a new growth center in West Java, and therefore requires the support of excellent and competitive human resources,” he said.
Furthermore, the Rector of ITB explained that ITB continues to strive to position its Cirebon Campus as part of efforts to expand equitable access to quality higher education, while also serving as a collaborative space for universities, government, industry, and communities in supporting sustainable development, not only in West Java, but also across Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Dr. Dewi Chomistriana emphasized that infrastructure development is not solely oriented toward physical aspects. “Infrastructure development is not merely about physical construction, but is directed toward fostering economic growth, equitable development, and improving the quality of life of communities,” she explained.
Therefore, the development of education areas is an important component of sustainable regional development strategies.

She further noted that, as a national strategic area, the Rebana Area plays an important role in accelerating development. “Strategic areas support development acceleration. Accordingly, educational facilities, including campuses, must be ensured to be feasible, safe, healthy, and capable of functioning as spaces for innovation for the younger generation,” she added.
As a higher education institution with a campus in Cirebon, ITB has the opportunity to play an active role in the development of the Rebana Area, particularly in strengthening the education sector and enhancing human resource capacity through research and innovation. ITB Cirebon Campus is expected to become a hub for the development of knowledge and technology relevant to regional needs, while also fostering collaboration among academics, government, industry, and other stakeholders.
