BANDUNG, itb.ac.id-Greenlabs, a startup made by students of Chemistry Master’s program and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) lecturers, won an award from Real Tech Holding Singapore Award, last Saturday (20/5/2023). The award was presented at the Techplanter Demo Day event, an acceleration program for Deep Tech Startups in Southeast Asia.
Greenlabs is a startup engaged in biochemistry and palm oil utilization. Greenlabs was one of the many startups participating in the competition held by Techplanter, a platform that is focused on high tech startup acceleration.
Demo Day was the final stage of the accelerated program, where the participants, which consisted of nine selected finalists, competed to present their ideas and products to investors and judges.
In their presentation, the Greenlabs team succeeded in presenting innovations in the utilization of environmentally friendly palm oil and biochemistry to reduce carbon dioxide gas emissions and increase the sustainability of the Indonesian green economy.
Greenlabs has developed an efficient and sustainable technology to obtain important biochemical components from palm oil that are not toxic to humans, animals and the environment, as well as the utilization of vegetable oils which are usually considered as waste. This technology can reduce the negative impact of the palm oil industry on the environment and provide significant added value to the sector.
CBD Greenlabs Eunike Salduna said that this award was a new beginning and motivation so that biochemistry transformation in Indonesia can be done massively for the good of the environment and health.
The Real Tech Holding Singapore Award also provided prizes in the form of capital funding and access to a broad investment network. This would help Greenlabs expand its influence and continue the development of sustainable chemical technologies.
Greenlabs has shown great potential in driving their innovation in biochemistry and palm oil utilization. Their achievements at the Techplanter Demo Day confirmed that students and the youth have an important role to play in creating sustainable solutions with positive impacts on society and the environment.
