The winning team comprises Elisa Rahayu (15320103), Immanuel Timothy Othniel Katili (15320048), Daffa Aviciena Wibowo (15320057), Rahma Afifa (15320040), and Iftitah Sudiono (15320106). Focusing on clean technology innovation to reduce carbon dioxide production, the team proposed an inventive solution to capture carbon emissions from industries using photobioreactor technology.

Their scheme involves utilizing microalgae, specifically Chlorella Vulgaris, which mimics chlorophyll in the process of plant photosynthesis. This microalgae is known for its easy cultivation, space efficiency, and high efficiency in reducing carbon dioxide. The photobioreactor, filled with microalgae, receives contaminated air from industries. The microalgae in the tube then breaks down these emissions into oxygen and by-products such as biogas and biomass.

In an interview on Thursday (02/11/2023), the team elaborated on their innovative approach, emphasizing that the competition paved the way for a viable business model. They not only focused on innovation but also on its implementation and the ensuing benefits. Initially contemplating placing the device on roadsides due to vehicle emissions, they eventually opted for direct capture from factory emissions, allowing for more controlled calculations. The team aimed to address industrial emissions, leading to potential reductions in carbon taxes and monetizing by-products like biogas and biomass.

The team adopted the motto "It's now or never," exemplifying their dedication during the competition. Initially uncertain about qualifying for the final stage due to an extended registration period, they ultimately secured a spot in the top 10 when the finalists were announced.

During the competition, the team's commitment was evident as they stayed at Rahma's boarding house and a 24-hour restaurant, sacrificing sleep to finalize presentations within a tight 2-day schedule. Their confidence in winning was so high after the final presentation that they booked tickets to Yogyakarta, even though funding was initially provided for only one person per team.

Ifti remarked, "Each of us wants to lower our ego, for example if we have an event. We should have canceled wisnight, done that. We were supposed to play with our family, but we canceled it. We could have slept for 10 hours but we stayed until 3."
The team's dedication paid off as they emerged victorious, securing first place among 120 groups comprising 305 students. Their journey provided valuable experiences in time management, handling pressure, building friendships, understanding business dynamics, performing diverse calculations for profitability, considering various aspects, and establishing relationships for learning and assistance.

The team's cohesion was a standout feature, with each member contributing expertise to develop a holistic idea covering the entire innovation process from upstream to downstream. Their well-integrated ideas showcased a deep understanding of the concept, and their collaborative approach facilitated overcoming challenges.
