BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Since its establishment in 2010, ITB Jazz finally succeeded in organizing the inaugural concert at ITB. Located in East Hall on Sunday (04/12/15), music players who joined this student activity units showed their musical talent. The committee carried out concert themed "The Spirit Behind Jazz". As a guest star, ITB Jazz invited Albert Fakdawer: an actor from "Denias" who is also a vocalist from Indonesian Youth Regeneration. Indonesian Youth Regeneration is a jazz group that has brought a fame of Indonesian internationally.
"From three years ago we actually had an intention to make the concert. Just had not implemented yet. Until finally, in 2014 yesterday, we thought we were already able to make the concert," committee chairman of The Spirit Behind Jazz concert, Andreas Febian Wibowo said (Environmental Engineering 2013 ).

The Spirit Behind Jazz initiated from disappointment of ITB Jazz towards jazz music concerts nowadays. According to them, many jazz concerts have lost the taste of jazz itself. They assess more commercial value on college campuses than the value of free expression through jazz. Therefore, ITB Jazz was motivated to carry the event that presents a real jazz, namely the freedom to experiment with musical instruments.

"The ultimate goal itself is not other than as a means of self-development skills for ITB Jazz itself. So, we accommodate all potential players to play and show off in front of others," Andreas explained on the sidelines of a concert.

The Spirit Behind Jazz concert was divided into five sessions. Each session performed four songs that have been arranged by ITB Jazz musicians themselves. Some of the songs performed are Children of the Night, Waltz for Debby, Misty, and Rather Be. In the last session, the ITB Jazz musicians collaborated with Albert Fakdawer performed of Have Fun Go Mad, Toxic, Stevie Wonder Medley, and Sugar. This collaboration closed the performance that night.
