BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung received Rp450 millions in educational funding assistance from Rumah Amal Salman ITB. The donation was handed over by Rumah Amal Salman to BPUDL ITB which later transferred the fund to the ITB Directorate of Student Affairs. This educational fundraising project is a collaboration between Rumah Amal Salman and ITB Alumni Union (IA ITB).

Located at Hotel Sawunggaling, Monday (7/6/2021), the handover of the educational aid was attended by the Head of BPUDL-ITB Deddy Priatmodjo Koesindartoto, Ph.D., the Director of Student Affairs Dr. G. Prasetyo Adhitama, S.Sn, M.Sn., YPM Salman ITB Governing Board Prof. Dr. Ir. Suwarno, M.T., and the Chairman of the Alumni Association of Institut Teknologi Bandung Gembong Primadjaja.

The head of BPUDL ITB Deddy Priatmodjo Koesindartoto, Ph.D., said that in the pandemic time of COVID-19 many ITB students need educational aid. On the other hand, the endowment funds that have been transferred to ITB for tuitional aid are deemed insufficient. "BPUDL as one of the parties that are involved in the transfer of endowment funds feels that we need an alternative or breakthrough so that the student's needs can be fulfilled," he said.

According to him, one of the alternatives is to do a fundraising collaboration between Rumah Salman ITB and IA ITB. The fundraising was done during the month of Ramadan 1442 H this year. He explained that the Rp450 millions fund was accumulated in two weeks. "A well-planned and not rushed donation will have a better chance to effectively help the students," he said.

The Head of Masjid Salman ITB Executive Board Prof. Dr. Ir. Suwarno, M.T. conveyed his appreciation for the donation collaboration. He believes that ITB alumni can continue to contribute to its alma mater by providing donations for students in need.

The Chairman of IA ITB, Gembong Primadjaja said that his side wants to keep involved in the continuity of education and to improve the quality of education in ITB. Therefore, alumni need to give back to the alma mater. "We have this 100thousands one month program from the associate of IA ITB. We will manage this program with the Alumni Office and the ITB Directorate of Students Affairs," he said.

The Director of ITB Student Affairs Dr. G. Prasetyo Adhiratma, S.S., M.Sn., also conveys his appreciation for the alumni donation. This fund will be used for educational aids for the students. "The pandemic has caused many students in need of tuition aid. This scholarship can help them pioneer a more prosperous future. This scholarship program not only gives short-term aid but will also foster the struggle mentality, gives the chance to contribute back to ITB through KKN thematic program, research, community services, and to help student activity units in ITB," he explained.

In addition to the handing over of the donation, on this occasion, a cooperation agreement was signed between BPUDL ITB and YPM Salman ITB.
