ITB Rector Delivered Accountability Report Period of 2015-2019

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The Board of Trustees of ITB held an Open Session for the principal liability of ITB Rector Period of 2015-2020 in the West Hall of ITB Campus, Jalan Ganesa No.10, Bandung, Friday (10/1/2020). The event was simultaneously held with the Early Meeting of Second Semester Academic Year 2019/2020.

The session was opened by the Chairman of Board of Trustees ITB Yani Panigoro, then followed by remarks from the Chairman of Academic Senate ITB Prof. Hermawan Kresno Dipojono. This event was attended by all ITB academicians.

In his remarks, Prof. Hermawan conveyed, as an academic institution, ITB has and always maintains the noble basic values and principles as stated in its statutes. "Therein lies the dignity, prestige, spirit, and glory," he said.

He continued, ITB can be recognised as a great and superior institution not only because of its high ranking, but also because it has noble values and principles. Regarding this, all parties of ITB have an obligation to not only maintain these noble values but also disseminate them through the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

"On behalf of  ITB Academic Senate and personally, I want to thank profusely to ITB Rector Prof. Kadarsah Suryadi along with ITB leaders for the past five years have brought ITB into a proud institution as it is today, continuing the achievements of the previous ITB leaders through continuous improvement, " Hermawan added.
 
Delivered by Prof. Hermawan, in the near future, ITB will have a new rector chosen, Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah. Now and then it becomes an obligation for the ITB Academic Senate together with the new rector to continue the tradition of excellence from ITB.

After the speech, ITB Rector Prof. Kadarsah delivered an accountability report period of 2015-2020 which focused on three big points, namely ITB as an Entrepreneurial University, ITB Achievements 2015-2020 and the future steps.

Explained by Prof. Kadarsah, ITB as an entrepreneurial university is a research university that develops science, technology, arts, social sciences, and humanities, it has the ability to innovate and meet challenges and opportunities in order to increase economic and social added value to advance and realize a strong, united, sovereign, dignified, and prosperous nation.

"Entrepreneurial university is inseparable from three main indicators, they are excellence in innovation, excellence in research, and excellence in teaching," he said.

In terms of accreditation, ITB keeps striving to increase the number of internationally accredited study programs. At present ITB has 39 Study Programs that have international accreditation such as ABET (United States), RSC (United Kingdom), ASIIN (Germany), KAB (South Korea), JABEE (Japan), ABEST21 (International) and 9 other study programs in the middle of ABET and NASAD (United States) accreditation process.

In terms of management, Rector said that during 2015-2018 ITB gets a predicate of Unqualified (Audit Opinion) for Management Accountability and Financial Statements. Currently ITB has 12 faculties / schools, 110 expertise groups, 7 research centers, 25 centers, and 6 leading science and technology centers.

Then the total number of publications on Scopus in 2015 was 1081 and in 2019 it increased to 1833 and will continue to increase again. While the number of cumulative citations in Scopus in 2015 was 4,980 and in 2019 it became 12,366. "Total research titles, from 2015 there were 556 research titles, then increased in 2019 to 1264 titles," explained Prof. Kadarsah.

Another achievement of ITB was conveyed by Rector, based on QS World University Ranking in 2020, ITB ranks in 331 position, and QS Asian University Ranking in 2020 is 66th position.

Meanwhile according to THE World University Rankings in 2020, ITB ranks in the position of 1001 world rankings, 201-250 Asia rankings, and 164 for the BRICS & Emerging Economies Ranking. Meanwhile according to THE Ranking by Subject, in the field of computer science ranking 601+, engineering and technology 601-800, and business and economics 401-500.

At the national level ITB ranked first in the cluster of Non-Vocational Higher Education in 2019. ITB also won the title of informative public institution in university category from the Information Commission.

Furthermore, ITB received an appreciation as a state university that has conducted Free of Corruption Area and Clean & Serving Bureaucracy Area. ITB also received an achievement as an institution with the highest publication productivity in Sinta Award 2018. Then received Widyapadhi Universitat/Institute award and Widyapadhi Krida award of Science, Technology, and Innovation in 2019.
