SINGAPORE, itb.ac.id — A delegation from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), led by ITB Rector Prof. Tatacipta Dirgantara, participated in the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Conference alongside university leaders from across Southeast Asia. The conference addressed the future of student mobility, inclusive higher education, and stronger regional collaboration.

The meeting underscored the importance of inter-university cooperation in creating learning environments that are increasingly student-centered, responsive to digital transformation, and capable of supporting students’ overall well-being.

Panel sessions and keynote discussions explored various challenges universities face in supporting student mobility. Key issues included the need to foster a sense of belonging amid growing individualism, the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in shaping learning experiences and graduate profiles, increasing attention to students’ mental health and resilience, the importance of accessibility and inclusivity in mobility programs, and the need for educators to respond effectively to generational differences.

During the forum, AUN member universities also presented a number of recommendations for regional implementation. These included strengthening collaboration through various AUN frameworks; developing more inclusive mobility programs that accommodate students’ diverse needs; integrating digital literacy, AI ethics, and future-ready skills into curricula; and cultivating campus environments that promote well-being, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

Other recommendations included enhancing faculty members’ capacity to respond to generational change and strengthen student engagement, as well as expanding the impact of higher education initiatives through external funding and strategic partnerships.

The conference reaffirmed that regional collaboration is a key foundation for developing higher education institutions that are prepared to address future challenges. As an active member of the ASEAN University Network, ITB remains committed to strengthening international partnerships that promote inclusive student mobility, responsible digital transformation, and improved student well-being.

Through this commitment, ITB also seeks to contribute to the development of a more interconnected and globally competitive higher education ecosystem across ASEAN.
