BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Three ITB students from the Undergraduate Program in Pharmaceutical Science and Technology won first place in the National Pharmaceutical Competition held by the Faculty of Pharmacy, Universitas Surabaya. The Kanindin Team which consists of Kanita Prameswari, Nidenia Permata Putri, and Adinda Mutiara also won the Best Presenter title for the Natural Development Case Study category. The topic that they chose was formulation pharmacy preparations from herbal sources.

The qualification stage for this competition began in March 2023 and its final stage was held in April 2023. In the qualification stage, they were tasked to create a pharmaceutical preparation product in the form of a scientific article. In the final stage, they presented their works in front of juries and ten other teams.

The title of their scientific article is “Kanidin Jelly Skincare for Skin Anti-aging Solution and Brightening-agent”. Nidenia said that her reason to make jelly-type skincare was because she personally dislikes using rub-type skincare which needs to be applied gradually. Therefore, she hopes that edible jelly-type skincare will be less of a hassle and more practical to use anywhere and anytime.

The main composition of this skincare is Moringa oleifera leaf. “As it happens, my final project topic is antioxidants and I know that moringa has strong antioxidant activities and it also has many pharmaceutical preparations that can be beneficial for skin, especially for anti-aging and brightening-agent,” said Nidenia.

In addition to that, the packaging that they designed also makes the jelly skin care easier to use. “We make the jellies elongated and have a cute shape, and from its primary packaging we put it in a secondary box that can be opened from the side,” added Adinda.

In an interview with ITB PR reporter on Tuesday (11/4/2023), the Kanindin team shared their key to success in participating in this pharmacy competition. Kanita said that they have learned most of the materials that they wrote on their scientific article in regular college lectures, especially in experiments. She advised that we should take lectures seriously so that we can apply the knowledge that we have learned in our daily life. Moreover, good team management and willingness to read scientific journals are also two important.
