BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Students from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) once again proved their excellence on the international stage. Team Thinions SuperGong, consisting of Yudhis Febrian (Management, 2024), Inggried Amelia Deswanty (Information Systems and Technology, 2023), and Keisha Daffa Aryani (Information Systems and Technology, 2024), won First Place at the Digital World Data Gathering (DWDG) Southeast Asia Business Case Competition 2025. The event, held virtually by DWDG Catalyst Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in collaboration with ShARE UGM and supported by industry partners, took place on Saturday (May 17, 2025).

With the theme “Globalization Resilience: Technology Utilization in Global Landscape Through Business Perspective,” DWDG 2025 challenged participants to design technology-driven business solutions. Despite coming from different academic backgrounds, the three ITB students demonstrated that interdisciplinary collaboration was their strongest advantage. “We wanted to show that ITB students can lead in business innovation, not only in science,” said Inggried.

Thinions SuperGong stood out with their proposal for an intelligent and eco-friendly distribution route modeling system, offering a logistics strategy that was both efficient and sustainable. “Our approach not only optimized distribution routes but also addressed sustainability issues. We wanted to prove that business innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand,” explained Inggried, who led the algorithm architecture design.

Strategy and Journey to Victory

In the preliminary round, Thinions SuperGong tackled a case from PT Serasi Autoraya (SERA - Astra Group), which focused on improving national logistics efficiency. Through rapid research and problem mapping, the team presented a well-structured, environmentally conscious logistics plan, showcasing both strong analytical skills and seamless coordination.

The challenge intensified in the final round with a case from Arthur Consulting, a foreign consulting firm seeking entry into the Indonesian market. “There were so many considerations. We conducted a comprehensive analysis of the Indonesian market, covering cultural behavior, technology adoption, consumer expectations, and benchmarking how other foreign companies entered different countries,” Keisha explained. Their analysis identified three potential markets Jabodetabek, Yogyakarta, and Bali before narrowing down to Jabodetabek as the most promising entry point.

Unlike many competitors, the team combined both business-to-customer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) approaches. “We developed a complete operational strategy, including distribution routes, go-to-market strategy, value proposition, distribution channels, and even brand ambassador plans. On top of that, we prepared a risk mitigation plan and a three-year financial projection that was highly realistic,” added Keisha. Their comprehensive analysis earned high marks, with a visibility mapping score of 4.3 out of 5, ultimately winning over the judges.

This victory proves that ITB students excel not only in science and technology but also in global business competitions. “ITB has given us a strong foundation in critical thinking, which really helped us,” said Yudhis. “From previous failures, we learned that having the courage to try again is the key.”

The achievement reaffirms ITB’s reputation as a hub for nurturing young leaders capable of thriving in the global business arena. “Don’t be afraid of failure. I’ve lost many times before this,” Yudhis admitted. “But the courage to try again is what brought us to the top.”

With their triumph at DWDG 2025, Team Thinions SuperGong has not only matched but also surpassed international competitors, proudly bringing ITB’s name to the forefront of Southeast Asia’s business innovation scene.
