ITB Students Represent Indonesia in the Asia Pacific HSBC Business Case 2013 in Hong Kong

Team coached by Ir. Permadi Budi Iskandar, MSP and Atik Aprianingsih was interested to participate in a business case competition for this kind of competition can help sharpen their analytical skills as well as direct application of the learning that has been obtained during their study. Many aspects of business and management-related issues are given, ranging from marketing, technology and operations, banking, human resources, to strategic management. Pacifist Team managed to surpass more than 60 teams that have put together answers to a given case. Of all the teams, there are 6 teams that advanced to the final round, which is representative of the University of Indonesia (2 teams), Universitas Pelita Harapan (2 teams), Prasetiya Business School (1 team), and SBM ITB (1 team).
The competition was held for the first time in Indonesia as an education program of HSBC to develop the talents of young Indonesian businessmen. In addition to the business case competition, there were also seminars to provide an opportunity for students to gain in-depth knowledge in business education. In this competition, Pacifist Team won the prize of 25 million dollars and a trophy. In addition, each team member will receive a certificate and coaching of senior executives representing HSBC Indonesia before competing at the regional level.
Regional competition of HSBC Asia Pacific Business Case Competition 2013 alone has been organized for 5 years by The Asia Case Research Centre and the Faculty of Business and Economics, University of Hong Kong as the only undergraduate business case competition in the Asia Pacific region. The purpose of this competition is to determine the ability of innovation and student analysis, to introduce real business world to students, as well as to develop professional and social network of the students.
HSBC Asia Pacific Business Case Competition 2013 will be held for 2 days (05-06/06/13). Two rounds of competition will be held on the first day while the other two rounds will be held on the second day. For each round, each team will be given a business case and took 2.5 hours to prepare a presentation of the solution of the case. The competition will be attended by participants from 24 universities from 15 countries/territories from all over the Asia Pacific region, including the University of Melbourne, University of Tokyo, University of Macau, University of Auckland, Ateneo de Manila University of the Philippines, and Taylor's University. The competition will be judged by 40 senior business executives, including 20 senior executives from HSBC.
