BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – ITB SEEI, FMPE, and LPIK collaborate with the mining company PT Petrosea to organize a public lecture titled “Implementation of Digital Technology in Mining Industry to Enhance Operational and Sustainability” on September 9, 2022.

The class was attended by 120 SEEI and FMPE students as well as PT Petrosea representatives, including Iwan Susanto (GM of Petrosea Academy), Rahmadi Ernawan (GM of PT Petrosea Project Origination and Developer), and Cory Manurung (Manager of PT Petrosea Business Development and Marketing) as speakers.

The class began with a speech by the Dean of SEEI, Dr. Tutun Juhana, S.T, M.T., before Cory shared the introduction about Petrosea and its business lines: contract mining, engineering, procurement, and construction, as well as logistics and support for oil and gas services.

In addition, Cory outlined Petrosea's 3D strategy- Diversification, Digitalization, and Decarbonization- as the company’s main pillars to develop its values to clients, investors, and stakeholders.

The session continued with Rahmadi, who discussed the implementation of digital technology in the mining industry. He revealed that the mining industry is currently in the early stages of the digital revolution. This situation is aligned with Petrosea's 3D strategy, in which applying digital technology ensures the company’s survival to compete with other corporations and prove its values that are different from theirs.

Rahmadi then introduced one of the technologies they successfully applied- MINERVA (Mining Engineering and Construction Advance Analytics). Acting as a strategic step in the digital transformation process, this technology is implemented in mining operations to accelerate Petrosea's transformation and ensure the sustainability of future performance.

"MINERVA comprises mining operations, fleet management systems, mine planning, performance management, change management, and asset management," he said.

The lecture ended with documentation and a Q&A session. It is hoped that public courses that give students a glimpse into the industrial world can be consistently improved by inviting speakers from other industries and students from various study programs.
