Bandung, itb.ac.id - Development of materials technology increasingly affect many different areas of human life. Medical technology, electronics, and petroleum are some aspects that are influenced by materials technology. It makes countries - developed countries race - a race to allocate funds to invest in developing the technology of the material. With this background, the Scientific Group, Electronic Material Physics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (Faculty-ITB) held a National Seminar Materials 2013 (SNM 2013) on Saturday (02/16/13).
SNM 2013 Seminar on the theme "Contribution of Materials Research and Its Application to Respond to Community Needs, Industry and Progress of the Nation" aims to initiate a number of important breakthroughs in the field of materials technology, can broaden the understanding of the participants, and the most important thing is to be useful for lives of many people. Seminars aim to provide benefits to the community is evident from the coverage areas are discussed, namely electronic materials, magnetic materials, optical materials, catalyst materials, nanomaterials, computational materials, as well as the material and its application as a source of energy, health, and the environment.

The event was opened with a speech from ITB Science Faculty dean, Prof. Dr.rer.nat Umar Fauzi stated enthusiasm for this seminar. After that, the event continued with remarks from Chairman Prof KK Electronics Materials Physics. Dr. Toto Winata. In his speech, Prof. Dr. Toto Winata expressed appreciation for organizing the event and hope for SNM 2013, "SNM 2013 is the second national seminar and in the future is expected to be a seminar with international standards, so that it can be a place to exchange information/materials science or the latest technological developments from researchers all over the world ". Toto said.

One of the guest speakers, Dr.Eng. Miftahul Muhammad Munir (Physics ITB), which gives the material on "Synthesis of nanofiber material with elektrospinning and its application" proves that the role of materials technology is essential for human life. He explained, "Nanofiber has a very broad application, including: artificial organ components, tissue engineering, implant materials, wound dressing, medical textiles, ULPA filters, air, oil, fuel filters for automotive, filters for beverage, pharmaceutical, cell membrane fuel, dye-sensitized solar cells, and others ".

After all the speakers finished delivering the material, the event was closed at 13.00 a.m. Of course, everyone hopes that the SNM 2013 is beginning of materials technology innovation for the benefit of the people of Indonesia.
