BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – A team consisting of students from Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) won an award at the Citra Pariwara 2023 event, a national advertising awards festival organized by the Association of Indonesian Advertising Companies (P3I) DKI Jaya.

The two students are from the ITB Visual Communication Design department, Angelica Ratih Rahardjo and Attin Rizqita Iffada. They won the gold award in the 2023 BG Award category.

The theme of Citra Advertising 2023 is “Ingenious and Contagious: The Rise of the Next Creative Herd," highlighting the rise of a fresh creative generation in the advertising sector. This marks the 16th year of Citra Pariwara’s BG Award, a competition showcasing advertising creations by students from diverse educational institutions across Indonesia. The competition serves as a platform to measure the creativity levels of the students, especially those interested in the advertising industry.

Attin mentioned that the preparation process for the competition was quite brief. “We were given only two days after receiving the brief from Citra Pariwara. During those two days, my partner and I dedicated our time together to comprehend the brief, brainstorm ideas, and address the challenges it presented,” said Attin.

They went through many ups and downs during their competition journey, “Starting with the difficulty of finding the perfect concept and the pressure as the submission deadline approached, yet there is still so much to do,” Attin explained.

Once they have submitted their work, they become one of the 10 finalists of the BG Award. They then prepared everything needed for the final presentation.

“During the presentation, we showcased various gimmicks that supported our material. One of the gimmicks was eating a cracker in the middle of the presentation,” said Attin.

Although it may sound unique, it turned out to be quite entertaining for the judges while they were presenting their ideas.

After the presentation, the finalists of BG Award were invited to participate in a series of awarding night events on December 7–8, 2023, at the Sofitel Nusa Dua Hotel, Bali.

During the two-day event in Bali, they immersed themselves in learning many things during the seminar, which featured renowned speakers in their respective fields. They also engaged in lively discussions and exchanged ideas with stakeholders from advertising companies and industry experts.

The highlight of the event was the announcement of the winners, during which the ITB student team’s name was called for the 2023 gold BG Award. Attin expressed how she initially did not expect to receive such an award.

“What was once unimaginable for us turned into a pleasant surprise and joy. We also feel grateful to be able to bring home souvenirs we have been eagerly waiting for,” she claimed.

Attin advises that more ITB Advertising Visual Communication (KVP) friends and fellow students should participate in various competitions. For her, the experience gained during the competition is the most valuable reward.
