BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Vice Rector for Research and Innovation's Office at Institut Teknologi Bandung held the 2024 Research, Innovation, and Community Service Exhibition (PRIMA) on Monday (December 16, 2024) at the West Hall and East Hall of ITB's Ganesha Campus.

This event was a collaboration between the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DRPM), the Directorate of Science and Technology Areas (DKST), the Directorate of Multidisciplinary Science and Technology Applications (DPITM), 12 Faculties/Schools, and the Directorate of Student Affairs (Ditmawa). The exhibition showcased posters and flagship products, available both in physical booths and through the Virtual Gallery Poster on the official website prima.itb.ac.id.

Beyond displaying research, innovation, and community service achievements throughout 2024, PRIMA ITB also featured a book discussion on "Excellent Scientific Culture," authored by ITB's Vice Rector for Research and Innovation, Prof. Ir. I Gede Wenten, M.Sc., Ph.D. The discussion included responses from key figures such as Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Stella Christie, Ph.D.; Chairman of ITB’s Academic Senate, Prof. Edy Tri Baskoro, M.Sc., Ph.D.; and ITB’s elected Rector for the 2025-2030 period, Prof. Dr. Tatacipta Dirgantara.

Assistant Director for Community Service at DRPM ITB, Denny Willy Junaidy, S.Sn., M.T., Ph.D., emphasized ITB's continuous efforts to strengthen a research-oriented culture as a vital aspect of academic life. "Through PRIMA, ITB reaffirms its commitment to broadening knowledge dissemination to enhance public understanding of science, technology, arts, and mathematics," he stated.

This initiative also aims to bridge the gap between ITB’s knowledge supply and societal needs.

In 2024, 14 ITB faculty members were included in Stanford University's Top 2% Scientist in the World: Single Year Impact list. Additionally, ITB recorded an increase in the number of publications in reputable international journals. In the field of innovation, ITB has successfully nurtured various startups, with more than 275 startups under its mentorship, eight of which participated in the ADB-funded Primestep program.

As a pioneer, ITB became the first Indonesian university to actively register international patents through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT), showcasing global recognition of ITB's innovations.

ITB also demonstrates its dedication through community service programs reaching underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions. Technologies such as water drilling, clean drinking water provision, internet connectivity, and agricultural technology have been implemented in 86 villages in Eastern Indonesia.

"Through the DESANESHA application, ITB also facilitates connections between village heads and experts to improve the Village Development Index (IDM)," he added.

Meanwhile, ITB Rector Prof. Reini Wirahadikusumah, Ph.D., in her speech, stated that scientific research is an indispensable pillar in ITB’s pursuit of its grand vision. A research culture must be deeply embedded in academic life, consistently evolving to realize an Excellent Scientific Culture at ITB.

"Excellent Scientific Culture refers to integrating research as a daily routine in academic life. This culture must be scientific-based and ingrained as a habitual practice. Moreover, excellence means continuously striving to produce outstanding works without becoming complacent with current achievements," she explained.

As a token of appreciation for faculty members and the academic community, ITB presented the PRIMA Award to outstanding lecturers in research, innovation, community service, and collaboration. Awards were also given to the Favorite Faculty/School Booth, Best Startup, and Empowering Partners who significantly contributed to ITB’s vision as an institution that is Locally Relevant, Globally Respected.

Through PRIMA ITB 2024, ITB continues to strengthen its role as a pioneer in research, innovation, and community service with both local and global impact.
