BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — Wednesday (September 3, 2025) marked a joyful day for the entire ITB Student Choir (PSM-ITB) team as they proudly secured four championship titles at the 2nd Thailand International Choir Festival 2025, held at the Thailand Cultural Center, Bangkok, Thailand, under the guidance of Music Director Roni Sugiarto and Associate Music Director Nicholas Rio.

The four awards achieved were Outstanding Staging Presentation, Winner of Folksong Category (Gold Medal), Winner of Mixed Youth Choir (Gold Medal), and Grand Prize Champion. This competition served as the highlight of the ITB Cultural Tour (ICT) 2025 program by PSM-ITB. The festival was attended by more than 20 choirs from 9 different countries over five days, from Monday (September 1, 2025) to Thursday (September 4, 2025).

This victory marks PSM-ITB’s first international competition achievement after a six-year hiatus since 2018.
Previously, PSM-ITB had also brought pride to ITB and Indonesia at several prestigious international competitions, including winning the Grand Prix Award at Bratislava Cantat I (2014), winning the Folklore and Mixed Youth categories at the 5th Florence International Choir Festival (2016), and achieving Grand Prix 1st Runner-Up at the 57th Concorso Internazionale di Canto Corale “Seghizzi” (2018) under the direction of the late Music Director Adi “Didut” Nugroho.

In this year’s competition, PSM-ITB delivered outstanding performances: Anging Mamiri (Arr. Dimitrij Ray) and Bungong Jeumpa (Arr. Josu Elberdin) in the Folksong category with a score of 89.53; Let My Love Be Heard (Jake Runestad) and Warisan (Nicholas Rio) in the Mixed Youth Choir category with a score of 89.5; and Tari Sanghyang Dedari (Arr. Agustinus Bambang Jusana, Mod. Nicholas Rio) in the Grand Prize round.

Chair of ITB Cultural Tour 2025, Ezra Clement Dario (Actuarial Science, 2021), familiarly called Ezra, expressed his relief and pride after successfully concluding the ICT program with such outstanding results.

He shared that the journey to reach this point was far from easy, especially regarding financial matters and the limited time available for preparation.

“Even with only three months of preparation from June to August 2025, all obstacles could eventually be overcome together with the committee, the singers, and our coaches, Kak Roni and Kak Rio, who tirelessly and selflessly guided us,” Ezra said.

President of PSM-ITB 2025/2026, Kezia Caren Cahyadi (Information Systems and Technology, 2022), emphasized that this achievement would not have been possible without the support of ITB, the coaches, alumni, fellow PSM-ITB members, and of course, the spirit of the entire team.

“International achievements are a bonus; the key lies in the commitment and consistency of every member. The values that have been passed down through each generation are our guide to continuing the legacy and pride of being part of PSM-ITB,” she said.

She further stressed that this accomplishment is proof that ITB is not only a place to earn a degree but also a platform to develop talents and bring honor to the nation. “I believe PSM-ITB can soar even higher and achieve even greater milestones. PSM-ITB has also never failed to hold annual concerts. So, if you’re curious about what our performances are like, don’t forget to keep following PSM-ITB and attend our concerts!” Kezia concluded.
