ITB Successfully Holds KRI 2020 National Level Online

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Institut Teknologi Bandung has successfully organized a national Indonesian Robot Contest (KRI) online. The closing of the National KRI took place on Monday, 23 November 2020. This event was held due to the cooperation of the National Achievement Center and Institut Teknologi Bandung. This online robot competition is the concept of the first activity, both in Indonesia and in the world, to be held in person.

KRI has gone through several stages since regional level 1 and 2 which were held on 7-11 October 2020. KRI at the Regional Level was attended by a total of 169 robot teams from 89 universities. The Regional Level KRI competed for 4 divisions namely Indonesian Fire Fighting Robot Contest (KRPAI), Indonesian Wheeled Football Robot Contest (KRSBI), Indonesian Humanoid Robot Football Contest (KRSBI) and Indonesian Dance Robot Contest (KRSTI).Meanwhile, the National KRI which took place on 16-23 November 2020 at ITB was competing against 6 competition divisions, namely: Indonesian ABU Robot Contest (KRAI); Indonesian Fire Extinguisher Robot Contest (KRPAI); Indonesian Football Robot Contest (KRSBI) Wheeled; Indonesian Football Robot Contest (KRSBI) Humanoid; Indonesian Dance Robot Contest (KRSTI); and the Indonesian Thematic Robot Contest (KRTMI) which was just held starting in 2019.In the current KRI implementation, the competing robot teams will hold their matches on their respective campuses which are broadcast through live video conference mechanisms based on the ITB campus.

During the closing ceremony of the National KRI, the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia Nadiem Makarim, B.A., M.B.A., delivered a speech, that the development of robotics technology is a clear proof of the challenges of changing times. The existence of robotics technology is a new breakthrough that shows the advancement of human civilization not only in foreign countries but also in Indonesia.

"With this Indonesian robot contest, we hope can increase the enthusiasm to develop national robotics technology," he said. Nadiem also expressed his pride and congratulations to the student teams who had successfully designed and completed the robots to be included in this National KRI.

Representing the Rector of ITB, Secretary of the Institute, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Widjaja Martokusumo expressed his gratitude to Puspresnas for entrusting ITB as the host. This year's implementation is the second time for ITB to be trusted to host the National KRI. He said, through organizing the KRI, it could be a stepping stone for all of the younger siblings to produce innovative and solution works for various problems in society.

Indonesian Abu Robot Contest

- 1st Place at the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology,

-  2nd Place University of Jember,

- 3rd Place Yogyakarta State University,

- 4th Place Malang State Polytechnic,- Best Design University of Jember, and

- The Best Strategy of the Ten November Institute of Technology.

- 1st Place  Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology,

- 2nd Place Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic,

- 3rd Place Yogyakarta State University,

- Champion for minimum patient movement criteria: Jember State Polytechnic, and

- Champion for cohesive mechanism criteria: University of Indonesia.

"I congratulate my fellow participants who have succeeded in becoming champions in this competition. Congratulations on your hard work and efforts that have paid off with this extraordinary achievement. "For the teams that have not succeeded in winning, all of you are still great and extraordinary because they can be participants in this competition considering the intense competition," said Prof. Widjaja.

He hopes that the development of this robot work is not limited to the KRI 2020. Development of robot work must always be done so that it can compete in global robotics technology which has advanced and is developing very rapidly.

Meanwhile, plt. The Chairman of Puspresnas Asep Sukmayadi, M.Sc., also expressed his gratitude for the collaboration with ITB in organizing the 2020 National KRI online. This activity is designed to be an arena for students during a pandemic to stay creative. "We want to provide valuable experience to prepare ourselves to be leaders in the future as technopreneurship candidates in the field of robotics and even become sociopreneurs in the field of robotics," he said. He added that some of the winning teams will be included in the world competition which will be held by NHK Japan.
