The SAPPD ITB Winter School 2024 is an enrichment lecture activity in the form of a field survey.  This event was in collaboration with the Bali Tourism Polytechnic, Universiti Sains Malaysia, and the University of Groningen.

Before conducting the field survey in Bali, each participant of this winter school activity should attend an online lecture. It was presented by 14 different speakers, running on 13-14 July 2024.

Then, 90 student participants of SAPPD ITB Winter School 2024 were grouped into 20 groups with 3-5 members.

Themed “Small Island Planning”, the SAPPD ITB Winter School 2024 introduces students to field surveys by visiting tourist attractions in Bali such as Nusa Lembongan, Penglipuran Village and Melasti Beach.

The field survey activity is carried out based on the topic being researched with guidance from mentors. This year, there are 13 different topics that can be taken by student participants.

The survey results regarding these topics will then be presented by participants on the closing day (22/6/2024). Not only that, there are several nominations for groups that managed to conduct field surveys successfully.

The nominations are “Best Group” which is considered by the judges to be the best in their presentation, “Most Favorite Group” which is determined based on voting, and “Most Liked Video” based on Instagram videos uploaded by participants.

In addition, there are also awards for “Most Active Participant” and “Most Favorite Participant”.

One of the participants was from the Regional and Urban Planning Study Program class of 2021, Viviani Marcella. She said that this activity was very insightful and helped students to work together in analyzing problems and potential around them.

"In this SAPPD ITB Winter School 2024, I was able to meet many people from various countries to exchange ideas and conduct field surveys together. In addition, I also gained new knowledge that I might not get anywhere else about happiness in Island," she said.
