BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — On Saturday, August 21, the Genetics and Molecular Biotechnology Science Group (GBM) launched an online FGD titled "Sharing Session Startup from Sciences to Industry." The event was intended to provide a forum for researchers who want to become entrepreneurs or work in the industry, as well as to instill in attendees a creative spirit.

The FGD was opened by Dr. Endah Sulistyawati, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Life Sciences and Technology (SITH) ITB, and welcomed by Dr. Fenny M. Dwivany, Chairman of KK-GBM. On that occasion, KK-GBM also presented patents that it had obtained thus far. Dr. Ernawati A. Giri-Rachman moderates this discussion.

Dr.M. Yusuf Abduh of PT Bio Proshafa Karya, a startup that manufactures Bio-N products, was the first to speak under the title "Bio-N: From Lab to Label." Dr. Wardono Niloperbowo from SITH ITB is the second speaker, with a presentation titled "Transformation of Thinking Way" to change the perspective of a researcher who founded a startup. Pandu Sastrowardoyo from DeBio Network will speak on "Building Community-Based Decentralized Startups." Dr. Agus Dana Permana of SITH ITB will speak on "Agraponics" as the fourth speaker.

The speakers presented an intriguing concept for further development. Dr.M. Yusuf Abduh discussed Bio-history, N's from lab products to ready-to-sell company products with the benefits of expensive essential oils.

Dr. Wardono Niloperbowo opined that professionalism and a low level of idealism are required when forming a startup to avoid overthinking. In addition, by determining the target market, there must be innovation. Pandu Sastrowardoyo uses debio to provide information about Blockchain and how it can be integrated into biology. Many companies now offer genetic testing services to determine health and ancestry. DeBio is a platform that uses blockchain to decentralize genetic data and keep it safe from data thieves. Dr. Agus Dana Permana explained that many companies have done business with Agraponics, which is currently being run.

The speakers on FGD were distinguished by the fact that they are all ITB graduates. Pandu Sastrowardoyo is not an informatics graduate, but the mindset he gained at ITB allows him to work in a variety of fields. Dr. Agus Dana Permana also provides participants with interesting startup information. Following the presentations of two speakers, the FGD participants were given a prize quiz.
