BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — The Mathematics & Actuarial Career-Education Expo (MACE) 2026, part of the Mathematical Challenge Festival (MCF) ITB 2026, was held on Sunday (3/5/2026) at Aula Timur, ITB Ganesha Campus. Adopting a career-education concept, the event welcomed the general public and featured a range of interactive programs designed to connect the academic world with industry needs.

Head of the Career Expo Division, Felicia Liora Kusnadi, explained that MACE 2026 was organized to broaden public understanding of mathematics and actuarial science.

“We organized this Career Expo not only for university students, but also for the general public, including high school students, as a platform to show that mathematics and actuarial science have broad applications and highly flexible career opportunities,” she said.

She noted that there is still a stigma in society that studying mathematics limits career options.

“In fact, this field is highly flexible and relevant across various professional sectors. In addition, public understanding of actuarial science is still quite limited,” she said.

Through MACE 2026, the committee sought to create a space that was not only informative, but also practical. A wide range of free activities was offered, including company exhibitions featuring BPS, PRISM, Clove, and blu by BCA Digital, as well as educational institution booths, mathematics games, and CV consultation sessions. In addition, workshops and company talks allowed participants to gain direct insights from professionals.

“We adopted a career-education concept so that visitors would not only get to know companies, but also gain a deeper understanding of mathematics and actuarial science as fields of study,” Felicia said.

This year, MACE introduced new innovations in the form of workshops and a mathematics center designed to be more interactive.

In terms of benefits, Felicia explained that in the short term, participants could gain information about job and internship opportunities, while also improving their CVs through consultation sessions. In the long term, she hopes the event will broaden participants’ perspectives on career prospects in mathematics and actuarial science.

“We hope a new positive perception will emerge toward these two fields, not only from a theoretical perspective, but also in terms of their practical implementation,” she said.

Looking ahead, Felicia hopes MACE will become more widely recognized and create an even greater impact on society.

“My biggest hope is that people will begin to see that almost every aspect of life can be analyzed through the lens of mathematics,” she said.
