JAKARTA, itb.ac.id — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) is continuing its collaboration in Hyundai JUMP School Indonesia Batch 3, an educational mentoring program that connects university students with schoolchildren and professional mentors. In its third year, the program has selected 30 ITB students to serve as student volunteers who will mentor schoolchildren at several schools in Bandung.

The continuation of the collaboration was marked by the Hyundai JUMP School Indonesia ceremony in Jakarta on Wednesday (7/10/2026). The event also marked the graduation of Batch 2 participants, the launch of Batch 3, and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the program’s partners.

ITB Director of Student Affairs, Muhamad Insanu, said ITB’s continued participation in Hyundai JUMP School reflects the university’s commitment to providing students with meaningful learning experiences through direct engagement with communities.

“Our continued participation in Hyundai JUMP School reflects ITB’s commitment to providing meaningful learning opportunities for students through social engagement and collaboration. In addition to sharing knowledge, student volunteers are encouraged to develop empathy, communication skills, leadership, and a stronger sense of responsibility toward the communities around them,” he said.

He expressed hope that as the program continues to grow, the collaboration will create broader and more sustainable impacts for both students and communities.

30 ITB Students Participate as Volunteers

In Batch 3, Hyundai JUMP School Indonesia involves 100 student volunteers, comprising 40 students from Universitas Indonesia (UI), 30 from ITB, and 30 from Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS). They will provide mentoring support to schoolchildren at 20 learning centers and schools across Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya.

In Bandung, the program will be implemented at six schools: SDN 65 Cihampelas, SDK Hidup Baru, SD Pandu, SMP PGRI 2, SMAK Hidup Baru, and SMAK Dago. The student volunteers will regularly engage with schoolchildren to share knowledge, provide academic mentoring, and offer emotional support throughout the program.

The mentoring program adopts a collaborative model that connects schoolchildren, student volunteers, and professional mentors. Through this approach, schoolchildren receive learning support, while university students have opportunities to develop communication skills, leadership, social awareness, and practical competencies.

The student volunteers will also receive guidance from professional mentors with diverse backgrounds, including Hyundai employees and other professionals, to support their academic, professional, and personal development.

A Growing Collaboration

ITB first joined Hyundai JUMP School in Batch 2 in 2025. At that time, ITB’s participation expanded the program’s reach from the Greater Jakarta area to Bandung. In Batch 3, the program’s network has grown further with the addition of ITS, marking Hyundai JUMP School’s first expansion to Surabaya.

During Batch 2, ITB and Hyundai collaborated to provide selected students with opportunities to serve as volunteer mentors for schoolchildren. The program was designed not only to broaden access to quality education, but also to give students first-hand experience in community engagement while developing leadership skills and social empathy.

Entering its third year, Hyundai JUMP School Indonesia continues to grow in scale. The first two batches involved 150 student volunteers. With the addition of 100 students in Batch 3, the cumulative number of participants has reached 250. Since the program was first introduced in Indonesia in 2024, it is projected to have benefited approximately 1,400 schoolchildren cumulatively through learning and mentoring activities.

President Director of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia, Kenny Lee, said the program’s continued development reflects Hyundai’s long-term commitment to supporting Indonesia’s younger generation.

“Through this program, we want to empower young people to continue learning, sharing, and inspiring the next generation,” he said.

According to him, the program’s expansion to include UI, ITB, and ITS demonstrates an ongoing effort to broaden the positive impact of Hyundai JUMP School and build stronger communities in the future.

Hyundai JUMP School was first introduced in South Korea in 2013 and has since expanded to several countries, including Vietnam and Indonesia. The program adopts a collaborative mentoring model that connects schoolchildren, student volunteers, and professional mentors, creating a learning ecosystem in which each participant can both receive support and contribute to the development of others.
