Research Community Development National Seminar 2012: Nation Inspiration Talkshow

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - The college student has great potential to develop the nation. Keluarga Mahasiswa (KM) ITB, in collaboration with Student Union of UNPAD, Masyarakat Ilmuwan dan Teknologi Indonesia (MITI), and Research and Community Development Center (RCDC) held Research Community Development National Seminar 2012. This event took place in ITB East Hall on last Sunday (22/04/12).

"The seminar aims to raise awareness on the importance of community development among students," said Sakina Sholihati Lathifa (Oceanography 2010) as chairman of this event. The theme of this seminar is "Architecture Research and Community Development (Comdev) Students in Indonesia Establishes Independent Collaborations" which is split into two sessions. One of the session was "Inspirasi Negeri" talkshow.

The talkshow presented Kharudin Djenod (Founder of PT Terafulk), Budi Gunadi Sadikin (Director of Bank Mandiri), and Warsito Purwotaruno (Head of MITI). "Through this talkshow, the speaker will show the audience that there are still a lot of things they can do to help developing the community," said Tifa.

Develop Indonesia Through Various Ways

Kaharudin Djenod, spoke first, shared his experience to  the 484 talkshow audiences. Kaharudin told how his motivation established PT Terafulk, a shipyard company in Indonesia.

According to Kaharudin, all other businesses such as electronics and automotive business is a derivative of the shipyard business. Therefore, armed with education pursued in Japan and the spirit to build Indonesia, he returned to Indonesia and established PT Terafulk.

"In the beginning when I returned to Indonesia, I have no capital at all," said Kaharudin. However, PT Terafulk which stands on 10 November 2005 has grown to nine companies with good turnover.  "I think every problem can be finished if we have confidence," said Kaharudin

Budi Sadikin got the second session on this talk show. Budi whom also a 1983 alumnus of Physics ITB explained that Indonesia is a big country. "Indonesia is a big country in terms of economic and human resources side," said Budi. "More than 50% of Indonesia's population is in productive age," he added later.

According to Budi, the Indonesian's weakness is at lack of confidence in ourselves that we are a big country. "If you want Indonesia  go to advance, we must work together to achieve progress," said Budi

Warsito got last chance on this talk show. He explained how to apply the knowledge we have learned as a life passion. "If we can apply the knowledge that we learned as a lifestyle, then it would turn into something light," he said.

Warsito told how his experiences during 25 years of struggling with physics formulas. And the result of 25 years of hard work is he has managed to create a cancer detection as well as clothes that can eliminate cancer cells in the wearer. "In two months there have been more than 2000 devotees from all over the world," said Warsito.
