SBM-ITB Held a Workshop about Coal Mining Business

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id-SBM ITB held a workshop as a mean to introduce the business and industrial world on Saturday (13/09/14). In this occasion, SBM-ITB cooperated with PT. Baramulti Sugih Sentosa in introducing the coal mining industries to hundreds of participants that attended the workshop in Auditorium Building of SBM-ITB. The Vice Dean of Resource Department SBM-ITB, Dr. Aurik Gustomo, ST. MT. together with the representatives of PT. Baramulti Sugih Sentosa also attended the event.
The event was opened by a speech from Aurik Gustomo and representative of PT. Baramulti Sugih Sentosa, Teguh Samudera. In his speech, Aurik stated that the workshop and industrial inauguration are routinely held by division of career service, industrial, and alumni relations of SBM-ITB. "SBM-ITB is such an interesting faculty not only because of its way of learning, but also its career service division that organizes occupied alumnus to share their knowledge about processes and other industrial aspects, not only to the SBM students but also everyone", said Aurik. He also emphasized all attendances to recognize and understand about the whole business processes in their workplace, so that they could build up the bond to their workplaces and certainly raise their working passion. Teguh Samudera explained that PT. Baramulti Sugih Sentosa established a cooperation with SBM-ITB in order to recruit human resource routinely as well as hold internship program, colloquium, and research about mining and coal.
Workshop about mining and coal was delivered by Ir. Syadaruddin (Geology ITB '87) who now has an established and professional career in PT. Baramulti Sugih Sentosa. In the workshop, he explained about the potency and prospect of coal market in Indonesia. Ir. Syadaruddin also pointed out about the way the geologist and mining experts explore the coal, design a model about mining methods, plan the acquisition of the mines, and estimate the required time. In spite of the engineering aspects, Ir. Syadaruddin also explained about the role of management aspect in coal industry. The company management that includes financial and human resource is such an important aspect, especially to create coal industry that applies the principle of good mining practice. In the end of the event, PT. Baramulti Sugih Sentosa carried out registration for those who were interested to join the company. "We're certainly sure that campus recruitment is a right thing to do due to the presence of potential human resources in the campus", said Aurik.
