The Asahi Glass Foundation Showed Support to ITB Research

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Science and technology are two important elements which inseparable from the development of a civilization and a country. Research and experiment are necessary to support the growth of science and technology. The Asahi Glass Foundation is one of the foreign institutions that have provided financial support to ITB research since 1988. In Indonesia, ITB was the only university that received funding from the Asahi Glass Foundation.
Grant Ceremony and Seminar on Research Findings Assisted by Asahi Glass Foundation in 2015 was held on Wednesday (02/09/2015), at auditorium of East Campus Center (CC) ITB, started at 9:00 to 16:30. This event is the result of collaboration between Asahi Glass Foundation and Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM) ITB.
Sixteen research grantees from Overseas Research Grant program in 2014 were derived from the FTI, FTTM, FMIPA, and SAPPK, each of which presented the results of research and studies that have been conducted over the past year. The presented themes varied from the development of a framework in manufacturing systems, the application of mathematical models in maximizing the rate of oil production, to research on metropolitan area of Bandung.
"The process of the proposal calling finished at the end of the year before the research rolls. For example, for the activity in 2015, the calling done in September 2014. Followed by reviewing in ITB between October to December, reviewing in Asahi Glass Foundation from January to March, announcement of the winner in April, and grant ceremony in August. Research started in August to June, and seminars were held in August of the upcoming year, "explained Dr. Ir. Joko Sarwono, M.T. as the Secretary for Research, LPPM ITB.
"Every year, approximately 16 proposals funded 500.000-600.000 yen (about 50-60 million rupiah) each. Participants came from all faculties and the program opened only for lecturers," continued Dr. Joko. The effect of the implementation of this event for ITB international publication is good, because every proposal required to have at least one international publications. As for the future, LPPM ITB will try to make the research makes better impact for the society.
In the afternoon, there was also an MoU signing ceremony between ITB and Asahi Glass Foundation. The event continued with the handover of Certification Grant Awards 2015 to 16 ITB researchers. In the end, performance of Angklung Alloy Family (KPA) ITB closed the event.
