BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - 3D printer can make anyone realize his ideas in a more tangible form, no longer confined within the image on the paper. Now ITB Library's visitors, both ITB students and the public visitors, can take advantage of these technologies for free after on Thursday (10/30/14) ITB held a ceremony for receiving Printer and Scanner 3D by the Embassy of the United States to the American Corner ITB. Located in the lobby of ITB Library, this event is also combined with a discussion forum entitled "Building a Creative Economy" inviting Macon Phillips, Coordinator of the Bureau of International Information Programs of the United States Department of State as a speaker.
On submission of the device, US Ambassador Robert O. Blake, Jr. also participated in this event. "We are grateful for the provision of these tools because of the presence of the 3D printer would be very useful in supporting the academic and research activities at ITB, especially for the manufacture of prototypes and other research models," said Widianto as the representative of the ITB's handover ceremony.
In relation to economic growth, the presence of a new technology also has the potential to encourage the development of the creative economy. Macon said that the key to the growth of a creative economy lies in curiosity and great passion. "The world continues to change with the development of technology. 3D Printer is just a tool. Creative is about how to use the same tools but in a different way. What matters is how we continue to develop new ways of thinking critically and creatively to generate new ideas," said Macon.
