BANDUNG, itb.ac.id--ITB Alumni Association (IA-ITB) held a free vaccination program at Sabuga ITB. This activity targets 2,000 - 3,000 people per day from the general public, including those aged 12-17 years.
This vaccination center was held in collaboration between IA-ITB, the Ministry of Health, Padjadjaran University Alumni Association (IKA Unpad), and Parahyangan Catholic University Alumni Association (IKA Unpar). The event was also supported by Indofood, Indomaret, Salim Group Gerak Pesat, ACA Insurance, Bakti Kominfo, BRI Peduli, Bank BTN, Pelindo, Antam, and PT Pro Plastic Prima Extruder.
The vaccination was carried out from 20-29 August 2021. This activity was appreciated by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil, and Mayor of Bandung Oded M. Danial who directly observed the vaccination implementation process to the site.
Based on data, as of August 21, 2021, the Covid-19 vaccination scope in West Java was only 21.8 percent. The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy explained that this percentage is still far from the vaccination target in West Java, which is 37 million people or 70 percent of the total population of 50 million. "Therefore, it is necessary to accelerate vaccination in West Java by collaborating with all stakeholders," he said after reviewing the implementation of the vaccine on Monday (23/8/2021).
Sandiaga Uno stated, to accelerate the Covid-19 vaccination in West Java, a colossal collaboration between the government and stakeholders are needed. Mass vaccination is expected to form group immunity or herd immunity.
Similarly, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil said collaboration was an important factor in accelerating the Covid-19 vaccination. If all parties are involved, starting from the government, TNI, Polri, communities, universities, to the general public, group immunity in West Java can be formed by the end of 2021. This target, according to him, can be achieved if all parties work together, as was the case with the Alumni Association ITB.
“The capacity of our health infrastructure is only 60 percent of it, to make up the 40 percent I ask all parties to intervene in defending the country by helping with vaccinations, the place can be anywhere,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Bandung, Oded M. Danial appreciated the people who continue to help in accelerating the vaccination, since vaccination can form group immunity or herd immunity.
“On behalf of the Bandung City Government, I would like to thank and appreciate this activity. As a form of collaboration from all parties to accelerate the vaccination process. Thank God, here, the target is 20,000 doses of vaccine," he said. According to him, residents aged 12-17 years have become the government's concern to be vaccinated. Currently pregnant women have also been given the vaccine.
Meanwhile, the Head of IA-ITB, Gembong Primadjaja, said that this vaccination activity was in collaboration with three universities in Bandung and UI. He hopes that these efforts can help the government achieve herd immunity in accordance with the proclaimed target.
"We carry out vaccinations with a total of 20,000 people, but it looks like the number will increase," he said.
