ITB, Ministry of Health, and BMHS Collaborate to Advance Education and Research in Robotic Surgery

Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), through its Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD), has entered into a strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and PT Bundamedik Tbk (BMHS) to strengthen education, research, healthcare technology innovation, and competency development in the field of robotic surgery. The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at Bunda General Hospital Jakarta on Monday (July 27, 2026), alongside the donation of a robotic surgery system from BMHS to ITB's FTMD.

The robotic surgery system will serve as a platform for education, research, and the development of medical technology innovations by combining the hospital's clinical expertise with ITB's engineering capabilities. This collaboration among academia, government, and healthcare providers is expected to strengthen Indonesia's national robotic surgery ecosystem, enhance research capacity and talent development, and support the country's drive toward greater self-reliance in the healthcare industry.

Through this partnership, ITB is contributing to the development of the scientific and technological foundations necessary to advance robotic surgery in Indonesia. The synergy between engineering expertise, clinical experience, and government policy is expected to foster healthcare innovations that address the needs of society while reinforcing the nation's healthcare technology and industrial independence.
