BANDUNG, itb.ac.id — In the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year, ITB admitted 1,228 students to the master, doctoral, and professional programs. The welcoming ceremony was conducted online on Thursday (01/12/2023).
The welcoming ceremony was welcomed by three notable figures in ITB Graduate School, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Jaka Sembiring, M.Eng., as the Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs; Prof. Dr. Suprijadi, M.Eng., as the Dean of ITB Graduate School; and Ridwan Sutriadi, S.T, M.T, Ph.D., as the Director of Non-regular Education.
ITB's postgraduate education aims to prepare outstanding students for the future through collaboration. Hence, ITB developed a multidisciplinary education to realize this objective, with adaptability and innovation from all academicians involved.
"At the postgraduate level, students are expected to possess the ability to produce works based on integrity, conduct independent research, and contribute to the nation," said Prof. Jaka.
The multidisciplinary system, which is the core of ITB's postgraduate education, is the key to addressing national issues holistically. Scientific collaborations between disciplines have great potential to generate innovative solutions that have never been considered.
According to Prof. Jaka, scientific collaborations alone would not suffice if not accompanied by students' soft skills and good character. As one of the most renowned universities in Indonesia, ITB continues to promote integrity and independence among its academic community, both on and off campus.
ITB's postgraduate education prioritizes advancing the knowledge and competence of its students. Students must be proficient and innovative in solving national problems and pay attention to their integrity. Through ITB's education system and collaboration, they are also expected to contribute to society with utmost dedication.
"Make the most of your time at ITB by gaining new knowledge, inspiration, and experience as a preparation to contribute to society. The future of ITB and Indonesia lies within the hands of these postgraduate students," Prof. Jaka proclaimed.
Therefore, the exposure of postgraduate students should be more extensive and comprehensive, encompassing a broader scope of scientific fields and methods. Students' understanding and skills, often assessed through collaborative research, reflect how well the education system solves real-world problems. Through this type of study, their competencies will flourish, making them better prepared to face real-world issues.
