Alumni Sharing Session with Students of The Joint Preparation Stage (TPB) SITH Class 2020

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id--The School of Life Sciences and Technology (SITH) of Institut Teknologi Bandung held a Sharing Session aimed at students of the Joint Preparation Stage (TPB) of SITH Class 2020 on Friday (30/4/2021). This event is substantial to facilitate the students in gaining new perspectives regarding studying and developing careers based on alumni experiences.

Four guest speakers, who are graduates of SITH ITB, were invited to this event, namely Dony Indiarto, Fahri Hasby, Arekha Bentangan, and Dally C. The event, which was held at 13.30-16.00 WIB and attended by 150 participants, began with opening remarks from Dr. Indra Wibowo, S.Si, M.Sc., as Vice Dean of Academic affairs of SITH ITB, and moderated by a young lecturer staff at SITH ITB, Mochammad Firmansyah, S.T., M.Si.

The event was divided into two sessions. The first session was the discussion regarding further study journeys in the field of science, especially for TPB SITH ITB students who aim to pursue a career as a researcher, and the second session was the discussion regarding experiences of business development journeys from SITH ITB graduates.

The first guest speaker in the first session was Dony Indiarto, who graduated from Biology ITB in 2013, also graduated from a master's degree in Environmental Science (Advance), Australia National University, Canberra, Australia in 2017, and currently is a Ph.D. candidate at the School of Biological Earth and Environmental Science, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.

The second guest speaker was Fahri Azhari Hasby, who graduated from Biology ITB in 2012, then graduated from Masters in Biotechnology ITB in 2016, and currently is a Ph.D. candidate in Soil Science, (Specialization in Biology) Swedish University of Agricultural Science, Sweden.

Furthermore, the first speaker in the second session was Mohammad Arekha Bentangan Lazuar, who is the Co-Founder of Mycotech, Pte, Ltd and has been awarded as a Certified Environmental Auditor, C.E.A. in 2019. He graduated from Microbiology ITB in 2012, then continued his master's degree in ITB Biotechnology and graduated in 2013.

The last speaker in the second session was Dally C. Shaffar, who is the co-founder of PT BIOPS Agrotekno Indonesia. He graduated from Biological Engineering ITB in 2015 and completed his master's study in Science and Business Management, Utrecht University, Netherland. A question and answer session was also facilitated at the end of each sharing session.
