BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – The long awaited Aku Masuk ITB (AMI) 2021’s ITB Day, has been successfully held on Saturday (6/2/2021) despite being in the pandemic situation. This year’s ITB day is held virtually via Zoom video conference and is live streamed via YouTube.
The ITB Day consisted of five events. Started with a talk show featuring Sandiaga Uno as one of the keynote speakers, followed with Faculties Booth Exhibition, Charity Concert, and of course, a Virtual Campus Tour.
A Long-Awaited Annual Event
Aku Masuk ITB is one of many programs hosted by Student Council (Keluarga Mahasiswa) ITB, held to encourage high school students nationwide to pursue their education towards a higher level.
Before the pandemic, every year, the Ganesha Campus had always been flooded by high school students, teachers, even parents, not only from Bandung, but from all over Indonesia to attend the mighty event, AMI.
Even in a pandemic situation, the enthusiasm was not at all down. There were more than 400 participants registered to attend The Virtual Campus Tour and more than 1000 people watched The Charity Concert.
A Challenge in A Pandemic Situation
The Virtual Campus tour was indeed not a simple challenge. Before the pandemic, AMI participants were taken for walks around the campus to get to know every buildings, rooms, and laboratories in ITB.
The innovation towards online campus tours was hard to imagine. It was tricky to move all the fun and enthusiasm to know the campus to a virtual event, since campus tour has been the most awaited moment at AMI every year.
“ITB Day is held to introduce ITB further to high school students, including the majors, faculties, and the physical campus itself, that will be guided by the staffs here,” said Shokhibul Wajhil, The Head of ITB Day Division, in the opening of The Virtual Campus Tour.
The Virtual Campus Tour started at 1 until 4 PM that day. Participants are divided into 6 breakout rooms which are led by 4 until 5 AMI tour guide staff to feel the campus’ atmosphere virtually, with an interactive map.
This first campus virtual tour map ever was made using a 360 degree virtual tour platform called CloudPano. This map is still available on akumasukitb.com and is able to be accessed by anyone.
The tour guides would also give participants further information with fun facts and fascinating stories about the campus. That way, participants were able to develop their own pictures about the campus, not only about the physical buildings, but also the life inside the campus itself.
