Architecture General Lecture: Urbanism Within The Perspective of State-Building
BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - ITB Architecture study programme on Friday (12/12) carrying out the general lecture, "Urbanism within the perspective of state-building". Took place in Architecture Gallery, Chairman of Urban Management and Renewal TU Delft, Dutch, Andrea Peresthu as lecturer emphasize the importance of the middle class role in development of a nation (state building). According to Andrea, in order the nation can go forward,it needs highly competitive and strong middle class in global level. This is the requirement in achieving prosperity and improvement of level live in entire society.
In order to develop the middle class generation with strength and quality, Andrea said, it need three strategy that cover nutrition and health of society, opportunity of work field and education, and environment quality repairement.
Planologists, Architect, and Desainer is the profession that take part in the third strategy domain namely improve the live environment include providing home area and physical facility. Improve the live environment is one of the especial role of architect profession, urban planner and desainer in society. Their Profession not only utilizing design for aesthetic purpose but also play role to achieve state-building.
Design however expected to give the practical solution for improving the society live environment. More than that, design pushed to give the vision to the fore to improve the quality of live. This paradigm is known as urban welfare tradition since city-state in Europe. During the period, home area facility, including public transportation, clean water, and sanitation, was a reality movement of modern architecture in Europe last century. Some nations can do the duty of developing public prosperity through society invesment value.
The general lecture discussed about architect, urban planner and designer in a duty to improve the quality of live on 21 century. Entering this millennium, issue about limitation of natural resources, energy, capital and global warming threat is some important matters which must thought of by nowdays generation in providing the healthy space for generation hereinafter.
Andrea Peresthu, the lecturer, work as a researcher of urban area in Technisce Universiteit Delft, Dutch. The man take hold of as European Higher Consortium General Secretary in Urbanism have made many masterpiece writing either in scientific journal or mass media. One of his article entitled JAKARTA'S " EXURBIA" KAMPONGS as polarization phenomenon growth of Metropolitan town in Indonesia.
