Arte-Polis 2: Place to Share Creative Experience

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Friday morning (8/8) around 09.00 WIB, West Java Regional Secretary Ir. Lex Leksamana represent Municipal Government officially open International Conference Arte-Polis 2 in Aula Timur, one of the historic building in ITB. Carry the theme “Creative Community and The Making of Place: Creative Experience Sharing”, Artepolis 2 is series of HelarFest that goes on during July and August 2008 in Kota Bandung. Committee chief Arte-Polis 2, Woerjantari Soedarsono, in her greeting express the seminar succeed bring into contact more than 80 expert from 16 different state which then useful to each other to sharing the local wisdom and international experience related to problems and current issue, best practice and also relevant policy impact between creative community and creation of place meaning, especially in public space. “This Event is targeted to bridging various stakeholder from various country who have same attention at quality live and subsistence of creative community, either from rural and urban” Bu Ririn said, Woerjantari’s chummy greeting. Arte-Polis 2, Bu Ririn added, will examine critical role of creative economics in development of society; management, planning, and scheme of economics creative industry in developing the quality live and subsistence of space for society and then compare the phenomenon of creative industry in developing countries as well as developed countries. Execution of Arte-Polis 2 is divided into two main areas namely International Conference and Design Charrette. International conference which executed during Friday till Saturday, will presented prominent speaker Minister of Trade Dr. Mari E Pangestu, Director of COMEDIA Charles Landry, Prof Lili Kong, Prof Masayuki Sasaki, Mr. Vin Morar, Mr John Newbigin, Dr Yasraf Piliang, Dr Armein Z Langi and Dr Dwi Larso. The speakers will give knowledge and deliver critical discussion. Arte-Polis 2 will be completed with the creative community exhibition at Aula Barat ITB and will be continued at Galeri Arsitektur ITB at 12-19 August 2008. Arte-Polis 2 international conference is the result initiative of School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development, work along with School of Business and Management.
