Arte Polis 6: Develop Creative tourism industry

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) by Architectural Engineering Study Program again hosted the biennial event entitled Arte Polis 6 delivering theme "Imagining Experiences: Creative Tourism and The Making of Place". Arte Polis 6 which was thanks to cooperation between the Architectural Engineering ITB and the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia was held from Thursday until Saturday (04-06/08/16). All of events of Arte Polis 6 include international conferences and round table discussions were held in the Aula Timur (East Hall) ITB and PGN Braga building.

The opening of events starting with the welcome speech from the Chief organizer of the Arte Polis 6, Dr. Eng Sarwo Arif Wibowo. In his speech, he revealed that at an international conference this Arte Polis 6 will be presented 74 articles from local and abroad who will be divided into parallel sessions. After that, the show continued with the welcome speech from the Dean of the School of Architecture, Planning, and Policy Development (SAPPK) ITB Prof. Dr. Ing. Ir. Martokusumo Widjaja and opening Arte Polis 6 officially by Dr. Miming Miharja, S.T., M.Sc.Eng. as Vice-Chancellor of Public Administration, Communication and Alumni (WRUAK) ITB . In the opening speech, Dr. Miming say welcome to the Bandung city and ITB for the participants who came in different regions both in and outside the country. He also hope Arte Polis 6 can be used as the event for exchanging ideas about creative tourism from various countries.

The event was followed by the delivery of a key speech by Prof. Feng Han, Ph.d. from Tongji University in Shanghai China, Prof. Greg Richards of Breda University of Applied Sciences, the Netherlands and Dr. Lenia Marques from Bournemouth University (United Kingdom) and moderated by Dr. Indra Budiman Syamwil from SAPPK ITB. The speaker highlighted the third variety of things in the tourism industry ranging from how to introduce and make branding against tourist destinations, how to develop tourism creatively, to conservation ways tourism icons from the ravages of a tourist visits that exist in big number. The event was followed by starting a parallel session presentations article participants in several different room. Parallel session presentations will be held on Thursday and Friday (04-05/08/16) at the ITB and the round table discussions will be held on Saturday (06/08/16) in PGN Braga building.
