Cities have been the important parts of national development. According to Ridwan Kamil (Emil), the Mayor of Bandung, the existence of the cities will stay the same even the country is not really stable at the moment. 70% of national affairs have been performed by the cities because of the decentralization. Since then, he thought that the cities can develop themselves with fresh innovations. "If just all the cities move at the same time and run for the better Indonesia, we will successfully manage the national issues," Emil said. He, who loved to work outside the office, believed that to develop Indonesia, it should be started by strengthen the power of each city with brand new system. Risma, the Mayor of Surabaya, mentioned that in developing the city, she had to pay attention on human welfare. The leaders of counties become the stakeholders of it. "I am not a politician; I am just a worker who is translating what people need and make the human welfare as the first concern."
All country sides must have special characteristics that can be Indonesia's proud. Bandung and Surabaya, indeed, have different characteristics. Risma said that Surabaya people have always been motivated to work hard. "To be a great country, we have to work hard," she said. To develop Surabaya, she also paid attention on education. On the other hand, Emil mentioned that Bandung people have potential to participate in public movement. Also, Emil had three issues that he really concerned about in Bandung which were infrastructures, bureaucracy, and public mind-set. Based on those issued, he engaged the people to participate in solving the issues with tagline: "If You Love Bandung, Love It with Action and Solution".
Both of the speakers agreed to optimize the using of communication and information technology and get people to actively join. Distance is not a matter anymore to communicate. Emil takes benefit of social media, Risma chooses e-government instead. By using the media, it will make the transparency of the government become real. One of the participants who attended the dialogue asked about how the speakers maintain the development. Emil mentioned that he hoped that his programs hopefully will be the SOP for the next generation. Risma said that the system on e-government hopefully will maintain the sustainability of bureaucracy. Through the national dialogue, hopefully, the programs of Emil and Risma will inspire other cities to develop Indonesia as the action of the love for Indonesia.
