Collaboration between STEI ITB and Kominfo, Opens Master’s Scholarship for Accelerating National Digital Transformation

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) held a webinar titled "Accelerating Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity in Indonesia Through Kominfo Master's Scholarships at ITB" on Monday (June 3, 2024). This event is part of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (Kominfo) initiative to accelerate National Digital Transformation through collaboration with the Human Resources Research and Development Agency. The webinar was organized by the School of Electrical Engineering and Informatics (SEEI) ITB.

Dr. Yoanes Bandung, S.T., M.T., a lecturer at SEEI ITB, stated that the Kominfo Scholarship program at STEI ITB offers candidates the opportunity to pursue a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, specifically in the Information Engineering and Management (RMKI) option

He explained that the RMKI study program at SEEI ITB focuses on two areas: Engineering and Management. In the Engineering field, the program covers:

  • Cryptography and Its Applications
  • Secure Software and OS Security
  • Digital Forensics and Computer Crime
In the Management field, the program emphasizes:
  • Information Security Management
  • Information System Assurance
  • Security Architecture and Design

The goal of these programs are to enhance human resources capable of ensuring the security of national information systems and cybersecurity in the future.

"The RMKI program at SEEI ITB is designed to equip scholarship recipients with the necessary competencies in the digital world, both in technical and management fields," he said.

SEEI ITB boasts a Cyber Security Center (CSC) building equipped with facilities and infrastructure to support learning activities in the field of cybersecurity.

Meanwhile, another SEEI ITB lecturer, Dr. Fetty Fitriyanti Lubis, S.T., M.T., mentioned that the Master of Electrical Engineering program consists of two concentrations:

  • Master of Information Technology Services (LTI): This program focuses on developing competencies in information technology services, relevant to current technological developments such as Smart Service Systems, Service Computing and Engineering, Digital Government and Digital Business, Digital Twin and Smart Cities, Internet of Things and Multimedia, Edge Computing and Cloud, Data Analytics, and Machine Learning.
  • Master of Information Security Engineering and Management (RMKI): This program equips candidates with knowledge and skills in information security, a vital need in the digital era.

She explained that this program is designed with a composition of 40% guided case studies, 30% theoretical material, and 30% independent work, with a duration of 3 semesters or 18 months, totaling 36 credits, and 1 semester for thesis completion.

"This program is designed to equip scholarship recipients with the necessary competencies in the digital world, both in technical and management fields," she said.

The webinar aimed to provide comprehensive information about the Kominfo Scholarship program at ITB and encourage more candidates to apply and contribute to the acceleration of National Digital Transformation.

Eyla A Maranny S.Kom., M.Sc. from the Human Resources Research and Development Agency of Kominfo, mentioned that the Kominfo scholarship program has been running since 2007 and has produced 3,178 scholarship recipients. Recipients come from various backgrounds, including central civil servants, military and police officers, local government civil servants, and the general public. This scholarship provides an opportunity for candidates to continue their studies domestically and abroad, with the main goal of improving the quality of human resources in the field of information and communication technology (ICT) in Indonesia.

The scholarship requirements include general requirements and specific requirements for civil servants/military/police officers. General requirements include having a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) from the intended university; being a maximum of 35 years old for the general public and 37 years old for civil servants/military/police officers; a bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.00. Additionally, candidates must meet other academic requirements, such as TOEFL/IELTS scores, and have a minimum of 2 years of work experience.

The scholarship selection stages include account creation, profile filling and registration, administrative selection, campus selection, and final announcement. For more information, visit beasiswa.kominfo.go.id.
