BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Two teams from the School of Business and Management at Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB) secured the first and third positions in the National Business Plan Competition UI Talks 3.0 2023, organized by the Center for Entrepreneurship Development and Studies at the University of Indonesia (CEDS UI). The award ceremony took place in the 10th-floor hall of the Gedung Dibaleka Municipality in Depok City. Both teams presented innovative and solution-oriented business ideas addressing challenges specific to various technological domains.

The LobsTech Team, comprised of Pieter Jose Santoso, Gloria Galore Sinaga, and Drago Grafany Cuangga, claimed the first position. Their business idea focused on utilizing ketapang (Terminalia catappa) leaves waste to enhance the quality of water in lobster farming. This innovation demonstrated the potential to increase the survival rate of lobsters by up to 80%, thereby contributing to the prosperity of lobster farmers.

"We observed a significant amount of ketapang leaves waste being used only for ornamental fish, while the survival rate of lobsters in farming sites remains as low as 0.5%. LobsTech aims to address this issue by combining ketapang leaves and eggshell flour for pH stabilization. Additionally, we employ IoT water quality detection and stabilization. With this solution, the lobster's survival rate increases up to 80 percent," explained Peter.

On the other hand, the Mengasihi Team, consisting of Zakaria Khoiri Hermawan, Desya Zalfa, Muhammad Razan, and Adi Mahendra Wibowo, secured the third position. Their concept focused on a breast milk powdering service for personal use without compromising its nutritional value. This innovation assists breastfeeding mothers facing challenges in storing their milk for their babies.

"We aim to support breastfeeding mothers struggling to store their milk. With the breast milk powdering service from Mengasihi, these mothers can preserve their breast milk for an extended period without concerns about nutritional degradation," Desya clarified.

The success of both teams underscores the impressive entrepreneurial capabilities and potential of SBM ITB students. They have demonstrated the ability to identify social problems and provide innovative and responsive solutions.

This achievement serves as inspiration for other students, encouraging them to persevere in their work and develop their entrepreneurial potential. Students can participate in diverse competitions to refine their skills and develop their business ideas.

The teams share the following tips for developing innovative and responsive business ideas:

1. Identify the surrounding social problems. There are numerous social issues that can be addressed with innovative business ideas.
2. Conduct thorough research. Ensure a comprehensive understanding of the problem and its potential solutions.
