BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – ITB conducted New Student Welcoming Events (PMB) for prospective students of the Undergraduate Program from Independent Selection (SM), Affirmation, and International Class. This event consisted of 8 sessions. The first session is Introduction to Information Systems, which was held online on Monday, July 31, 2023.

The Director of Information Technology, Mugi Sugiarto, S.Si, MAB; the Chief of Sub Directorate of Information Technology Operational and Services, Ario Sutomo, S.Kom, M.T.; and the Chief of Sub Directorate of Information Technology Planning and Development represented the Directorate of Information Technology (DTI) ITB as the source parties in this session. Ghifalda Annisa Desomsoni (Entrepreneurship, 2024) served as the ITB Campus Ambassador for Entrepreneurship in 2023.

The session started with the introduction of the ITB Account as the only account to access Information Technology Services in the Campus ITB network. "The services include email, wifi, Single Sign On (SSO), Virtual Private Network (VPN), and Microsoft 365 Apps," Mugi explained.

Moreover, the source people explained that each service starts with an email. All of the new students will get one ITB Account that can be used as an email address as well. For WIFI access, ITB provided SSID for the students, namely ITB Hotspot and Eduroam. Ario mentioned that ITB Hotspot is used for intranet and extranet access, whereas Eduroam is for internet access and international roaming in every institution supported by Eduroam (both national and international institutions).

The other service is VPN-ITB. "VPN ITB is a service to access ITB networks and other resources that are inaccessible outside the ITB system, such as e-journal sites subscribed to by ITB," Ario stated.

Users have to access VPN with an ITB Account and install VPN clients such as OpenVPN Connect or Tunnelblick for MacOS to use VPN internet service.

This session also introduced the SSO authentication system that ITB Account has implemented. With the SSO, users only have to login once to access various ITB internal applications.

The last explanation of this session was about Microsoft 365 Apps. The ITB Account can be used as a Microsoft 365 account for 15 devices (5 desktops, 5 smartphones, and 5 tablets). It includes multiple applications such as Microsoft 365 Online, One Drive 1 TB, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Teams.

The new students in the 2023 cohort will be able to use ITB information technology services immediately after they get their student ID number.
