BANDUNG, itb.ac.id—At the Institut Teknologi Bandung October Graduation Ceremony held on Saturday (22/10/2022), Fitri Aulia Permatasari from the Doctoral Program in Physics (2018) was chosen to deliver the representative graduate farewell speech.

At that moment, Fitri expressed her gratitude for the support of her family who never stopped praying for her to complete her education. She also did not forget to thank the Rector and her staff, the Deans, the educational staff, and all the ITB lecturers who have provided guidance and knowledge during her studies.

In her speech, Fitri shared the belief that she has always held during her time at ITB, which is the concept of leaving a legacy. This belief crossed her mind after reading scientific publications during her undergraduate level. "From there came a desire to leave a scientific footprint, something that can be read, not bound by time, and continues to be useful in the world of science," Fitri said.

Despite the many challenges she had to face, thanks to the enthusiasm, hard work, commitment, discipline, and support from her ITB lecturers, she finally succeeded in publishing her first paper in 2016 in the reputable journal Q1. Now, her writings have been cited 177 times in the last 6 years–a very proud worthy achievement.

Up until the end of her doctoral studies, Fitri had published 21 legacies in the form of various international journals with a total of more than 500 citations, or an average of 27 citations for each of her papers.

"Scientific publications are a way for me to leave a legacy that will continue to be useful and timeless, which in the Islamic religious concept, is known as amal jariyah," she concluded. Fitri also advised the graduates to continue to take advantage of the exemplary provisions that have been obtained at ITB in order to always leave the best legacy according to their own versions.

At the end of her farewell speech, Fitri invited all the graduates to stand up and yell their last Ganesha greeting. Like the glory of the greetings spoken, may the journey of the graduates to birth new legacies never end for God, the Nation, and the Almamater.
