BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – ITB students keep bringing fame to Indonesia and ITB in international competition. This time, the fame come from world programming competition, IEEEXtreme Programming Competition 11.0 held by Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE). In the competition held on Saturday-Sunday (14-15/10/2017), three ITB students in Ainge ST Team, Luqman rifin Siswanto (Informatics 2013), Wiwit Rifa’I (informatics 2013), and Alfonsus Raditya Arsadjaja (Informatics 2014) won the fourth place out of 3350 participating universities all around the world. The biggest five teams come from Switzerland, China, USA, Indonesia (ITB), and China.
In IEEEXtreme Programming Competition 11.0, a team of three have to finish 30 Programming problems given every one hour. The time limit is 24 hours without break. The competition assess the capability of participants in logic, algorithm, data structure, mathematics, and fast and efficient programming prowess. Participants are asked to solve algorithmic problems using C++/Java. Created program should correspond with the description and meet the execution time and memory limit when running. The created program is then collected and automatically tested using test machine and given many cases. once the program pass the test, the team will receive points.
After finishing all the problems, points gained will be summed and ranked. If there were a tie, the rank is sorted based on total time spent. Team with the quickest time get higher place. Ainge ST Team, based on Laboratorium Dasar 3 Labtek V, succeeded in gaining perfect score in every given problem, similar to the team that won the first place. Ainge ST Team only lost at total time spent.
This outstanding achievement was achieved through hard work. Almost everyday Ainge ST Team practiced programming in website that have practicable algorithmic program. In Saturday and Sunday for at least 5 hours, Ainge ST improved teamwork and team strategy to gain optimum performance. Besides persistent training, their experience in Competitive Programming (CP) also become the strength of Ainge ST. With their frequent participation in similar competition in national and international level, Ainge ST understand what they should do in programming competition.
Ainge ST always want to bring fame to Indonesia and ITB in International level. They believe that every person has their own way and capability. It does not matter in what area, the key to success is hard work, focus, and dedication.
