BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Electrical mechanical treadmill, exercise equipment portable wheelchair, soybean planter machine, and the machine launcher volleyball. The machines are on display at the exhibition of products and posters on Friday (12/05/14) in the East Hall. Not only the three machines, there are 20 other machines. The exhibition was organized by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace (FTMD) ITB. The products on display was the result of research staff and students as well as the design FTMD college students participating in courses machine, MS4105 Design II. The draft results are also contested by category best idea and announced five winners.

In the second semester of 2013 and then, there was a course Designing I. In the course was exactly the participants started designing. Until Design II course participants realize the design together with the supervisor respectively. "Through this study we so have experience designing and building the instruments themselves, become more confident as ever to do so," Suenri Alboin (Mechanical Engineering, 2011) said.

Innovative Products Answering Community Needs

Five winners were announced on the same day and the prizes were presented by Prof. Dr Ir. Djoko Suharto and President Director of PT Astra Otoparts. First prize was won by 'Tangga Otomatis'. The first runner was 'Soy Bean Planter', and third place was won by 'Cruxi'. Two runner up was 'Exercise Equipment Portable Wheelchairs' and 'Measuring the Power of Human Energy'. 'Spring Cat' thrower engine volleyball and 'Massage Chair Gowes' was awarded as the best idea.

Johannes Smith Sormin (Mechanical Engineering, 2011), making team members 'Tangga Otomatis", states that the ladder into one of the important tools in both domestic life in performing maintenance or repairs. Based on the results of the survey team, the ladder was needed was a ladder that can be opened with a fast, easy to operate, lightweight, and only need a small storage space. "Sometimes people take it hard and heavy long ladder also can not be taken if the curve," said Johannes. Thus conceived the idea of 'Domestic Auto'. This ladder has a width of 40 cm. Once hit, the ladder will slide up to 2.5 meters in just 3 seconds. This lecture for Johannes was a place to learn to come up with ideas and innovation. "Bring up the idea is quite simple, but the implementation is very long and difficult," he said.

The winner was the best idea "Kursi Pijat Gowes". This idea arose because the current massage chair on the market new price was very expensive and its placement should be close to a source of electrical energy, " Suenri Alboin (Mechanical Engineering, 2011) said, one of the team members of the creators. Therefore, created a massage chair that can be used anytime and everywhere with energy sources derived from its stroke. "Although some friend said it is moving back to the stiffness of the legs, anyway," Suenri said. There are four roller massagers which will move up and down in the area around the lumbar spine in a cyclic manner. Power masseuse comes from user strokes. the advantage, this product makes the stroke burden was not heavy and costs about USD 1,500,000. the tool was initially almost not allowed to appear because it was not working. "But at the end of the evaluation of our tool can function properly. So happy and satisfied, " Suenri said.

Prof. Ir. Djoko Suharto appreciate all participants Design II course. Chairman of this course mention that all participants are winners. For him was not easy to determine just five winners only. This exhibition was also attended by the President Director of Astra Otoparts, Hamdhani Dzulkarnaen. "This activity is very good, need to be carried out at least once a year because it can cultivate ideas and love of his own design. The company will target the engineer with a passion much like this," said Hamdhani admire.
