BANDUNG, it.ac.id – Different look was seen from the parking lot and the building of School of Management of Institut Teknologi Bandung (SBM ITB) on Saturday (21/4/2018). SBM students 2020 held INFEST 2018 (Innovation Festival), entitled “Owning the Future and Beyond.” This exhibition showcased 156 projects by second semester SBM ITB students, class of 2020 graduation year from twelve different fields of industry, such as beauty-fashion, foods and beverages, commerce, technology, education, entertainment and arts, health-humanism, coffee, transportation, environment-agriculture, travel-tourism, and financial-freelance.

The exhibition, which began from 13.00-19.00, is the final assignment of Leadership and Management Practice Course learnt by SBM students class of 2020 graduation year. Even though rain poured, the event did not lack attendees. More than 1500 attendees came and witnessed the biggest inter-industry exhibition in SBM ITB.

According to Ahmad Rizqatha Ramadhan as Person in Charge of INFEST 2018 who is also an SBM ITB 2020 student, the event aimed to introduce students of SBM ITB 2020 to current existing industry, and trying to enter and understand the workflow and business in the industry, ”The aim is to enhance our attention to current business.” He said.

The projects are conducted seriously. Sikinang Project, initiated by Ilham Nugraha, for example, processes the usually thrown away jackfruit seeds into various foods such as brownies and tempe by making flour out of the seeds.

Some projects already got funded from several parties, and Canika Project is one of them. The project got funded from SBM ITB to conduct the project, an application that connects user with bridal vendor in decoration, catering, venue, and even bridal car. Some projects already see profit.

Other projects are not profit-oriented. Wendy Anastasya Yeoda, for example, initiated a project named The Untold Story. This project publishes story books that are written by orphanage children, cooperating with art students and illustrators to draw the illustration. All of the selling profit is given to the orphanage children. Another project, ITB Quran Reciter, was initiated by Bagus Nugroho and engages in religious education by making Quran video of which the reciter comes from ITB.

When conducting the project, SBM ITB 2020 students do their project seriously. Since January, they conducted project planning, assistance with tutors, and interviews with various sources. Some invited lecturer also present during the course.

INFEST is an initial step to welcome Indonesia 2030 toward the fifth best economy in the world according to McKinsey research, and to welcome Indonesia with demographic bonus in the same year. In that year, population of productive ages exceed unproductive ages. This could accelerate the development of Indonesia if the youth, especially the students can use the moment.
