Bandung, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) has a variety of student activity units (bahasa: Kegiatan Mahasiswa Unit, UKM) aimed at developing students' own potential outside academic activities. One of them is the Infinity ITB, a UKM that has moved into the field of modern and contemporary dance. On 22 January 2020, Infinity ITB successfully held an open-air public show entitled "Infinite Showdown 2020"

"Infinite Showdown is a place for Infinity ITB members to create and also to express themselves as a medium through modern and contemporary dance to campus scoiety and surrounding communities. This event is routinely held annually by Infinity ITB," said Neva Rahma Ardelia as chair of the Infinite Showdown 2020. This year, Infinite Showdown has raised the concept of "Treasure Hunt" inspired by films such as Jumanji, Arthdal Chronicles, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Legend of Aang.

As Neva explained to ITB public relations reporters, "Treasure Hunt" tells the story of five explorers stranded on a mysterious island to find a piece of map that would lead them to a treasured temple. On their journey to find the treasure, they met various inland tribes, such as the Water Tribe, the Forest Tribe and the Lava Tribe, which have different cultural values and characteristics.

When explorers get closer to their treasures, it turns out that the temple is filled with evil spirits who hold the grudge against anyone who is greedy and wants to take the treasure. At the end of the journey, two out of five explorers are still alive and happy because they finally got the treasure. But because of greed, it turns out that one of them eventually got rid of a friend of his own.

"We chose this theme because 'Treasure Hunt' is an interesting and unique theme to be presented through choreography on stage. In addition, the story line containing a plot twist is chosen to ensure that the audience is increasingly interested and not bored during the show," she said. Through this show, Infinity ITB hopes that the audience will have the moral value to convey, which is respect for cultural differences in different places presented and avoid greedy or individualistic attitudes so that the harmony of life can always be maintained. Infinite Showdown 2020 participants are members of Infinity ITB UKM who register to participate in the 2016-2018 class.

Neva explained that preparations for the Infinite Showdown began in September 2019. Preparation included concepts and storylines, team formation, routine performer training, costume and property design, teaser shooting, and fund raising. Because of this long process, Neva felt that this opportunity had become the right momentum for the development of dance and the improvement of organizational skills. The sense of belonging and cooperation with each other of UKM Infinity is hopefully increasingly formed by this event.

"Through the implementation of this event, I hope that everyone who has participated in the Infinite Showdown 2020 will have the priceless experience that will be useful in the future. Infinity ITB is well known to the campus community and the public. Also, this UKM can always present interesting events that can entertain the audience," Neva concluded.
