BANDUNG, itb.ac.id—A group of lecturers from ITB's School of Business and Management (SBM) has recently unveiled their collaborative book titled "Private Equity and Venture Capital in Southeast Asia," developed for the Business Risk and Finance Research Group. The team behind this writing venture includes Dr. Ir. Subiakto Sukarno, M.B.A., RFA, QWP, CFP (SBM ITB Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs), Dr. Raden Aswin Rahadi, S.T., M.M., M.B.A., CFRM, RFA, CBAP, CRMP, and Kurnia Fajar Afgani, M.B.A., CWM, CRMP, CFRM, CBAP, alongside practitioner Alfred Boediman.
Launched on July 8, 2023, the book aims to serve as a comprehensive guide for individuals interested in the realms of private equity and venture capital, with a specific focus on Southeast Asia. The authors recognized a gap in in-depth literature on the venture capital landscape in this region and sought to provide valuable insights for both newcomers and practitioners.
Dr. Aswin mentioned that the inspiration for the book arose from the high level of student interest in venture capital. The authors hope the book becomes a vital reference for those entering or already engaged in the field. However, they encountered challenges in obtaining information from companies in Southeast Asia, as many were hesitant to share internal details, hindering a complete portrayal of the industry.
Additionally, the book is the first part of a trilogy, with upcoming releases expected to delve into detailed valuation methods, business characteristics, and more. Dr. Aswin anticipates the second book, titled 'Where is the Money?,' to be released around the end of December 2023. The series aims to cater to a diverse audience, including undergraduate or graduate students aspiring to work in venture capital, professionals in the field, and educational institutions in business and economics, particularly at ITB SBM and other business schools.
Dr. Aswin emphasized that the trilogy's objective is to provide a comprehensive learning resource for readers ranging from beginners to advanced levels, enhancing understanding of venture capital in Indonesia.
