BANDUNG, itb.ac.id - Creating an interesting visual element appears to be a fairly heavy challenge for those who do not learn the techniques of designing. As with the students of Visual Communication Design (DKV) ITB, designing is their A to Z. In order to share knowledge and skills they have acquired, Youth Association of Graphic Designers (IPPDIG) ITB opened design consultancy bureau to facilitate questions regarding logos, posters, proposals, and other designs. For two days, Wednesday and Thursday (02-03/09/2015), IPPDIG ITB opened a design service, exhibition of students of Visual Communication Design (DKV) ITB, seminars, and Asian Packaging exhibition from Japan Foundation.
Yosia Pangidoan Raduck (DKV 2012) said that good design is not only be aesthetically good, but also performs and fulfills its purpose. "Designing a logo that looks simple can be costly because designers got many aspects to consider. Also, we don't do it just like that instantly, but through some courses in a few semesters," said Yosi. In addition to consulting services, Department of Professionalism IPPDIG ITB also promoted design services by DKV ITB students. The price range varies from hundreds of thousands to 3 million rupiahs, depending on the package chosen.
Beside the design agency booth, IPPDIG ITB also held a seminar that invited DKV ITB alumnus. They shared their experiences in the working field, including must-have things for designer to survive the industry. In addition, a design company from Singapore, Germs Digital also introduced their company profile and offered DKV ITB students an internship, especially to students who chose specialization in Visual Communication Advertising.
In the future, Yosi hoped a similar event can often be held in order that DKV ITB students' works exhibited more often. According to him, this kind of event is great to bridge the relationship between the Faculty of Art and Design (FSRD) ITB and other faculties in building more intense cooperation.
