BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung Alumni Association (IA-ITB) held a webinar titled "Technology Disruption 4.0: The Impact of Metaverse" on Tuesday (15/2/2022). The webinar presented two ITB alumni, Darina Maulana (Interior Design 2014) the Co-Founder of QYOS, and Himawan Nugroho (Mechanical Engineering 1994) the founder of Pandawalabs and a Product Manager at Google.

In the first session, Darina Maulana presented a concept of Revolutionary Zero-Waste Consumption with Refill-tech. Health and environmental hygiene are very serious issues in Indonesia and are closely related to sanitation. According to him, every day there are 2000 tons of plastic waste generated in Jakarta. "To address this issue, we founded QYOS that aims to provide refills for daily FMCG products which in turn will reduce the amount of plastic waste generated," explained Darina.

QYOS applied multiple strategies in its production, distribution, and consumption stages. In preparing for the production stage, QYOS collected consumer insight and made sure that the processes are sustainable. For the distribution process, QYOS chose an environmentally friendly approach, and for consumption, QYOS provided affordable and familiar products.

The main market target of QYOS is urban women. Meanwhile, the QYOS marketing campaign is heavily focused on social media such as TikTok and Instagram. QYOS reported that they managed to contribute to reducing the use of more than 5000 plastic bags each year.

In the second session, Himawan Nugroho presented a topic about the evolution of Web technology, from Web 1.0 to Web 3.0. According to him, Web 1.0 is a centralized web system while Web 2.0 allows its user to create their own web content.

Web 3.0 brings many improvements such as a more accurate interpretation of user input; the ability to process different types of input like text, sound, or other media; ability to personalize content for different users. Web 3.0 infrastructure is based on Decentralized Apps, Smart Contracts, and Blockchains. Web 3.0 is now popular as a medium for cryptocurrency, NFT, and decentralized finance.

Himawan then talked about the Pandawa Labs. "Pandawa Labs is a launchpad for Indonesians to learn, form a community, and launch their Web 3.0 products and NFT," explained Himawan. Pandawa Labs presented a business opportunity for Indonesians to benefit from the Web 3.0 trends. Pandawa Labs itself is in the development stage and is planned to be launched soon.
