ITB and BMBF Explore Collaboration in Research and Education

BANDUNG, itb.ac.id – Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) welcomed a delegation from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung or BMBF) on Wednesday (5/3/2025) at Rapim A Room, ITB Rectorate Building.

The meeting was attended by ITB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Tatacipta Dirgantara, M.T.; Vice Rector for Communication, Partnerships, Alumni Relations, and Administration, Dr. Andryanto Rikrik Kusmara, M.Sn.; Head of Agency for University Business and Endowment Fund Management, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Poerbandono, S.T., M.M.; and several representatives, including faculty members from the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Technology (FEST) and the Faculty of Mining and Petroleum Engineering (FMPE).

Meanwhile, the BMBF delegation was led by Ms. Kathrin Meyer, Head of the BMBF Delegation, and accompanied by representatives from the German Embassy.

This meeting aimed to discuss prospects for international collaboration between ITB and BMBF in academic and research fields. The ITB Rector emphasized that partnerships with international institutions play a crucial role in strengthening dynamic and collaborative networks.

"Strong networks with leading universities will help researchers enhance their skills, methodologies, and access to facilities. Therefore, I hope that through this meeting, we can establish a solid foundation for future collaboration," he stated.

Potential areas of collaboration between ITB and BMBF include dual-affiliation research models, the establishment of joint research and innovation centers, talent exchange programs, startup and industry collaborations, hybrid research and education programs, and funding support for research initiatives.

"With these collaboration prospects, Indonesia and Germany can jointly foster brain circulation and innovation while enhancing research capacity and technological competitiveness for long-term and sustainable growth," concluded Prof. Tata.
